  • should i paint a large background or flood coat it?

just a quick question about flood coating. I normally flood coat with the vinyl but we have a job to do that would leave lots of joins so we are thinking we should paint this time now question ……what type of paint should I use as we will be laying vinyl over the paint. oh and any other tips you think a dumb dumb like me might need 😳 😳 😳
    Thanks in advance

Hello Michael, What substrate are you flood coating?

Be sure NOT to use latex paint, as I have had loads of trouble getting vinyl to stick to it.

I would recommend 1 Shot bulletin or lettering enamel (the bulletin might cost less) or your local favorite lettering enamel as 1 Shot isn’t quite the paint it used to be. Or any really good oil based enamel.

    Thanks for the prompt replies.

    Michael.

On that sort of area I’d take them down to the local vehicle repair shop and get them sprayed.

Agree with John Body shop or even get them powder coated depending on budget

definitely 2K paint down at the body shop – powder coating often melts the plastic core at the edges

As Mark has said I would definetly use 2 pack paint. I’m having some done soon 5X 8X4 ali composite panels £80 finished in either matt or gloss, at local car body shop. (Price is a mate rate). Having it done for same reason didn’t want all the joins.
