    Hi Guys,

After much worrying about doing this Etched Window the day finally came, and all i can say is thanks to all of you for helping me , it went down quite smoothly in the end , there were a couple of wrinkles but they came out of the carrier paper i think , so all in all it went down smoothly and the customer was so happy i now have his Van and new golf shop to boot to do as well 😀
Any way on to the picture, i will say in my defense that the customer choose the font and to have it all in caps so that was not down to me.
But as they say , if the Customer wants , the customer gets.

Heck, I’d have gone for the Brazilian Bikini Wax!
Nice job Mort. The etched stuff adds some class to the salon.
I’m with you on the all-caps part, but sometimes you just have to do what is asked.
    Love…Jill

hi mort, work looks great mate.. i like the simplicity of the etch panel. really makes the job in my veiw.
i agree with you on the fascia text.. not my taste of font for this type of shop.

a tip in my veiw would be to reduce ALL the text by about 25% in hieght.
i feel the fascia needs a bit more breathing space..

anyway.. job done, & done well.. get the hand out for payment and onto the next. 😉 nice one mate.. 😀

p.s. does this mean you dont need the 2″ return brass letters? 😆
glad actualy mate… i know you were giving what they asked. just didnt picture them working in my visual, even more so now i have seen the shop front 😉

    Well done Mort:

A nice consistent gap around the window gives it a feature

    just some thoughts mate….

what method of application did you use?
what type of vinyl did you use?
    where did you get it?
    how did you find it?

i am sure many new comers would love to know, as well as myself. etch looks great!

Thanks for the great feedback guys. It’s really appreciated 😀

Rob yep sorry was going to call you Weds but the last minute they decided to go with the same vinyl as they chose for the A-board which was KPMF (I’ll post the full specs in morning) and they wanted it done ASAP. thankls for all your help though and next time i’ll keep you posted.
The only reason for choosing that product was they had the colours that the client wanted. It felt like a nice vinyl and was a dodle to apply ( lets see how it lasts)

The Main fascia was done in Metallic Bronze dry fitted to their existing fascia. ( I did try to reduce the size of the Fonts but the husband insisted that it “Filled the whole space up” so thats what he got.

The frosted came out of the K71100 range and it was supposed to be the frosted pink , but i couldn’t see any pink in it. trimmed to width and backed up, applied wet with Overlay spray instead of water and fairy. went down ok ish, i did have a couple of crinkles in it which i think i picked up off the backing paper rather that in the application, it is a very thin very tare-able vinyl a si found out towards the end 😥 , but i got round that by talking him into having the 2″ gap all round which made the job look better than having it trimmed in to the corners (which he wanted)and got rid of my tare 😛

The door he wanted done at the last minute and luckily i brought my off cut of etch, but it was unbacked up, so i wet it and using my felt squeegee i just slapped it on 😆 that came out great no creases at all. then i just trimmed it all up after using my 2″ strip of forex that for some strange reason i had in the van (lucky that saved the day)

I got a lot of confidence in that now and next time i think i will try it dry, i was just very nervous to start, Hopefully i don’t get a call in the morning saying it’s on the floor 😥

no worries mate.. looks fab anyway.. 😉

etch certainly doesnt look pink wash, more mint or blue.
MACtac have a nice range of colour washed etch vinyls. reasonable prices also.. 😀

glad he went for the trim back. .25 inch or 2inch doesnt matter, the border finishes it neat. better finish.

    well done 😉

Rob i practicaly threw the Mactac Swatches at them and hid the kpmf ones, but thats what they chose, and they had to pay for it, not cheap as you know.

Hey nice job Mort. I bet you’re really glad there’s a nice gap around the edge. I think it makes it look much better than an edge fit.

Jill…I’m still cracking up. Gotta love a shaven haven. ‘cept on Morts 😮

I do love those old little shops you have over there. Here they are mainly in shopping centres or factory units – no atmosphere.
