shop signage: lofthouse & partners
Posted by Paul Humble on December 23, 2008 at 12:11 pmHi everyone,
just finished this and im quite pleased with it. Thanks to everyone who pointed me towards going for this setup, I think its met the customers brief very well and when its mounted against his red chimney breast I think it will look very good.
Its 10mm clear acrylic reverse written and set against an oversized 5mm white acrylic on 25mm standoffs.
Comments and criticism welcome as ever.

Nicely done there Paul.
Only one tiny criticism – I would have used the 25mm diameter studs for a more substantial look instead of the smaller ones..

Very nice job. I like doing these type of signs and currently have one half finished.
I think possibly the graphics could have been a tad smaller to give more breathing space but might look different with a face on view.

looks good – if your fixing to a brick chimney it may be worth taking some metal washers to use for extra packing behind the sign, just in case the brickwork is a bit un-even

Cheers guys, Dave I used the 16mm items bu I think you are right about the 25mm ones.
Peter, it does look a bit cluttered in the pic, but because I oversized the white panel it looks ok head on (ill get pics when mounted).
Thanks for the tip about the washers Neil, its going on an old converted Victorian chimney breast so you can bet it wont be perfectly flat.

Excellent Paul. A really classy and expensive looking sign. 😀

Cheers everyone, it means alot to me to get praise from such experienced signwriters.
Jason, I used Bay Plastics for the stand offs and acrylics.

Out of interest, were the edges ‘diamond polished’ on those as I think I can see some tooling marks in the material.

Very nice Paul.
Isn’t it nice when you get a customer who is looking or willing to have a sign that is not just a flat panel.
This customer wanted something to replace the standard brass plaque seen outside of most dentists. I used 24mm studs through a 3mm stainless panel then mounted the blue acrylic with press studs.
