Finally finished my Butchers job and fitted it Sunday lunch, he was my first customer and in no rush (just as well really) for the sign.
I learnt so much doing this from scratch, made loads of mistakes and fixed them and finally managed to
produce and fit a job I’m proud of.
It was a bit hairy though because the weather was so changeable, but the fixing went more or less as planned 😀

So the big question is… am I a Sign maker yet?

nice well done watch the kerning though easy not to notice when your doing it your self
but the real point is the customer liked it thats all that counts in the end

    Hi Chris,
I can see the problem with the telephone number, but have I missed something else?
The Tel. no. was an application error, which I thought I’d corrected. So its back up a ladder for me this weekend 😳
Strange it wasn’t until I posted the pic here that I noticed it 👿

Fantastic sign Pete, and I reckon you’re a signmaker as thats a cracking sign thats been well applied and fitted by the looks of it 😀

App errors are nasty, if you don’t spot them til you’re onsite, its a real pain to sort out, but I bet you’ll manage this without many problems. Just glad the sign dried enough for you to fit it. Can’t believe you managed it in that weather as well, you must have (oops) of steel mate, or at least brass ones 😉

As Chris said, onto the next! You’re going to make some superb signs, I just know it 😀

    Cheers, Dewi

i think chris is talking about the m. walsh being too spaced apart, and the
(sausages & fresh cooked meats) too close together!!

sorry pete to highlight it, 😳 but that is what we are all here for!!

or we would not learn anything!!

sorry to nitpick but ,if you draw two imaginary lines at the end of the scrolls, try to keep your lettering uprights parallel to them, helps give the illusion that the lettering is on the scroll. Yes you are a signmaker but like the rest of us will keep on learning and making mistakes for a long time yet. Why do we let ourselves work in conditions that we would refuse to work in if we were working for someone else? Had to put a fascia up in a blizzard the other week with the ladder standing on sheet ice.Pete

Good looking sign but those Sausages & fresh Ccoked Meats must surely be small cos I can hardly see em! 😎 I’d have made the words a bit bigger, that’s all………

Thanks for the feedback, it really is appreciated, especially the constructive stuff.
My veiw is “if you see it, say it”, it’s up to me then to be wise enough to learn from it, or foolish enough to reject it.

Nik, I can see what you (and Chris) are saying, so no apology needed.

Pete, great nit picking, I’m trying to secure that tip to memory as I type. As for more mistakes, I’m sure there’ll be plenty and chance discoveries to boot 🙂

Martin, I don’t quite see it 😉 do we both need new glasses 😀
I’m going to look again when I finish typing this.

Dewi, I spent an age with the heat gun drying it out. Why oh why did I experiment on a live job, Doh!

Thanks for the encouragement and feedback everyone 😀

Yep, seat of the pants job then Pete 😀

Good man though, I’ve looked at it again today, its a cracking sign, no doubt. Next one though, paint it the week before 😉

Sorry Pete, it was just me being fa, fa, fas…..fasciscious! 😎
I would have made the words bigger either side, there seems to be space?
