• Shaped 5mm Acrylic

    Hi,
    Ok ive been asked to do a job which will involve lots of A4 and A3 size pieces of 5mm Acrylic however they have straight edges but both tops and bottoms have a step/curve in

    my webserver isnt working so i cant post an image but i hope this works

    something like that.

    So my question is:

    A: can anyone out there cut them to this shape??
    B: how much would they cost me (about 20 x A4 & 20 x A3)

    Hi Kevin, I could cut them for you on our cnc router but you could do them yourself with a handheld router. All you need to do is cut them to size ie a3/a4 then make a very simple template of the shape you require from a piece of mdf or foam or any material that is easily worked, just jigsaw out the line you marked for the shape you require,then either clamp or use double sided tape to attach it to your workpiece and using a bearing guided straight cutting bit in the router simply cut with bearing running on your template and you get a perfect shaped piece every time.

    ps you can get cheap routers from BQ or screwfix for about £30 that are more than capable of doing this sort of work.

    thanks for the tip, i just dont have the time at the moment we are snowed under, thats why i need someone else to do them for me.
