I heard people talking about these screws before on here somewhere, I just wondered where you guys get them from, I get most my stuff from screwfix, and i have looked in many other places and cant seem to find them.
Would be helpful for fixing fascias to metal.
    Thanks
    Matt

You can get self drilling screws with normal posi/philips heads.

Used widely in the manufacture of upvc window frames (but great for fixing signs to fascias etc).

I’ll see if I can dig out the supplier details.

    Cheers

We use self drilling/self tapping screws at work. They have a normal philips/posi head. Available in a number of lengths.

We buy them from Utility Fasteners in Northampton. Tel 01604 671038. Speak to Graham. We buy them 12,000 at a time I think, dunno if he does small quantities, but I’m sure he’ll help if he can.

Matt We use them all the time, both with screw style head and bolt style head, they are also known as tek bolts so you might try asking for them if you have no joy on the other name.

Useful tip when using the bolt style, put a little blue tak in the socket to hold the bolt in place while you start it off, that way they don’t keep falling out when trying to get them in position

Sorry Matt I don’t know his surname – I know he’s south african, and I’m sure there’s only one Graham there.

They are generally called Tek screws and most engineering supply companies will stock them. They arent that cheap though.
