    Hi

I am in a few weeks time taking delivery of a new Seiko colourpainter, laminator etc, whilst we could have purchased a JV3 or indeed the Grenadier far cheaper the speed, colour gamut and quality of this made the additional expense worthwhile.

Anyone else got one to share tips, profiles etc with

We have had the Seiko ColorPainter for a couple of months. Speed and image quality are outstanding. We are driving the printer from the Scanvec Amiable RIP engine (embedded in the PhotoPrint and FlexiSIGN products).

We have also developed custom ICC profiles for this RIP for the following media products:
    Metamark MD5
    13oz Gloss Banner (NuFlex)
    Perforated Window film (Hexis)
3M cast adhesive vinyl (Controltac Plus)

While the ICC output profiles supplied with the Scanvec RIP are pretty acceptable, there is a marked improvement in color gamut and depth in our profiles. I am pretty confident that you will like the Seiko unit. Good luck!

Good to hear some positive feedback – what kind of cost have you ben averaging in ink per SQ metre ?

I have read a few concerns elsewhere about how excessive ink is wasted during cleaning and purging – your thoughts?

No its a print only machine that prints at true 720 x 720dpi at spectacular speed – at standard 720 x 720 it runs @, 16 sq mtr an hour, at 720 x 360 it knocks out print at 30 sq mtr an hour, with a colour gamut that puts the rest to shame.

I looked at everything on the market, JV3 sp, Grenadier etc and even though at one point we thought to get inside our budget we would have to go for one of those, we shopped around and got a deal that meant the Colour Painter came in at only marginally more – anyone interested let me know and I will put you in touch with the dealer we used.

What was really pleasing as I talked to various suppliers and competitors that no one had a negative word to say and all accepted that it was out and away the leading machine in its class, I belive that they are now doing a deal on the JV3sp to give you two machines almost for the price of one as they are so concerned about the speed of the Seiko.

The full spec on the machine is:

The 64″ wide ColorPainter 64S employs six new industrial piezo inkjet heads featuring 512 nozzles per colour for a total of 3072 nozzles. Optimized for true 720dpi printing with 14 picolitre drop sizes, the new ColorPainter 64S achieves a class-fastest printing speed of 16smph at true 720dpi (with 4 passes) – 2x to 5x faster than other printers in its class. SIIT offers professional, high-performance printing systems for professional sign and graphic producers around the world.

The ColorPainter 64S uses solvent pigmented ink (EG outdoor ink) which offers a super wide colour gamut – including deep rich blacks and vivid bright reds impossible with other solvent ink sets. Best of all, durability is not sacrificed to achieve the breakthrough colours. The six ink colours (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, light cyan and light magenta) offer outstanding water, scratch, cleaning fluid, cracking, and UV resistance – for outdoor applications up to 3 years.

64” (1626mm) wide media capacity, 63.6”(1615mm) printing width
    Automated cleaning and priming station
Clean hands ink refilling using 1 litre cartridges
3 digitally-controlled heaters for fast drying
    Optically-driven automated takeup system

The ColorPainter 64S is the fastest sign and banner printer in its class AND it delivers the best image quality and colour gamut in its class. If you are looking for the best possible high-performance direct-to-uncoated vinyl printer available, then the ColorPainter 64S will be your best investment.

    PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS

    Expanded Gamut & Brighter Colours

Seiko I Infotech’s revolutionary solvent inkset offers six amazingly bright, rich colours so signs and banners stand out. EG stands for expanded gamut as these inks provide a larger colour gamut than other solvent inks. Inks are provided in large 1 litre cartridges so you don’t have to worry about running out of ink during long jobs or overnight printing. Each 1 litre ink cartridge/reservoir provides complete digital monitoring of ink levels and can be replaced while the printer is operating.

    Fastest in Class

Seiko I Infotech specifically designed the ColorPainter 64S to print fast at high resolution. 720dpi is the perfect balance between image quality and speed.

Mode Resolution Pass (Printing Direction) Print Speed
    Draft 360 x 720dpi 2 – Pass 30sqm/h
    Standard 720 x 720dpi 4 – Pass 16spm/h
    High Quality 720 x 720dpi 8 – Pass 8spm/h

    Direct To Uncoated Media

EG-Outdoor inks adhere to more uncoated materials than competitive solvent inks so you have the choice of sign and banner materials – lowering your cost of production.

Up To 3 Years Outdoors Without Lamination*

EG-Outdoor inks provide up to 3 years of outdoor fade and weather resistance without lamination. They are also resistant to standard cleaning solutions so graphics can be used in all types of applications
