  • Searching for a certain type of vinyl please?

    Hello everyone,
These forums are great, the most comprehensive I have been able to find. Today I get my Versacamm 300 delivered. My question is about my selection of media. I need something that will leave NO RESIDUE and is able to be removed without heat or tools months later. I will be using this strictly for scratch sensative indoor objects (indoor decals). I got a test roll of ESM-PGEZ, I love it, but the supplier says Roland isn’t offering it anymore. He has to special order it. I don’t want to get comfortable with a material that may not be around much longer. I wouldn’t want to switch up on my clients in the future. He recommended I try Oracal 3951 he said it removes without leaving residue. But the description on the site said "Removable after application with application of heat and proper removal methods", it also is described as "Permanant Repositional", not sure if this mean removable. Does this mean it will only remove cleanly with the application of heat or other special methods. Has anyone used this material and can cofirm that it removes easily and clean without the use of heat or special tools. If not what popular easily available material do you recommend that is a 2-3 mil glossy cast vinyl.

Thank you for reading my post.

    Thanks Carrie,

i think i found something to use if the pgez becomes unavailable. MPI 1005 EZ. here is the description. seems to have that same 100% clean removal gray adhesive that the PGEZ have.

    http://www.spandex.com/au/Links/Digital%20Printing/Avery/Avery%20MPI%201005%20EZ.pdf

    I also found these statements:

โ€œThe MPI 1005 EZ features the Easy Apply technology that cuts down on wrinkling and damage, bubbles and waste during installation,โ€ says Avery spokesperson Tiffany Witham. โ€œWe also offer 100 percent clean remove ability on the adhesive if itโ€™s a sound OEM paint surface. This technology cuts down your production time, which saves you money on the job, and helps the installer if they are not truly an expert at installation.โ€

Avery Dennison’s EZ Fleet Marking Films incorporate patented Easy Apply (EZ) Technology that makes possible easy application and repositioning, and minimizes wrinkling and bubbles. EZ films are 2-mil premium high-gloss opaque vinyl, 100% warranted removable without heat and no adhesive residue.

i dont think this 1005 will work either. i am applying this to glossy mirror finish acrylic. the esm-pgez was too strong for it and left some unremovable film after 24hours on the surface. does anyone have any suggestions on material.

Well the acrylic surface would be the most sensative surface, but it will also be applied to porse plastic which doesnt except cling. Right now im looking at the ESM-CWVR seems to be roland only “removable adhesive” the rest are permanant or special permanent adhesive and seems to leave an unremovable layer of residue which cannot be removed, i think the adhesive is melting it. this has happen with 2 other fleet materials. I dont think cast vinyl is going to work. the ESM-CWVR is calendered but 4 mil and conforms well.

    HI There,

This is a tricky one , the vinyl is Ultra removable but it doesn’t come in a format for printing on a Versa Camm , why cant you use heat on a mirrored acrylic surface ? what happens ?

The repositionable adhesive allows you to manouver large area colour graphics without ruining your job if you make a mistake , ie lift and try again, it does become permanent after 24 hrs but will remove cleanly with heat.

    All the best
