  • scratch on flood coated panel

Posted by Angelique Muller on September 17, 2009 at 6:49 pm

    Hi there,

Whilst unloading a sandwich board I had a little accident and got a scratch on the flood coated, dibond panel (black). Is there any good way of repairing this?
    Any advice appreciated

it depends on what is acceptable to the customer.
if they didnt see you damage it a piece of vinyl would do the trick.
but a touch of black paint would be more unnoticeable.

Have you tried to polish the scratch out using "T" cut ?

I wouldn’t T-cut it as you will leave more of a mark and loose the gloss from the powder coat finish.

No it is actually to deep to polish it. I did smooth the scratch with my nail and put black paint on it and wiped it then of with a tissue. It looks a bit better and I am sure the customer won’t complain (going by the amount of bird-sh*t that is on it most of the time, he is not too bothered by its appearance). It is just that I see the board very often and I know it will bother me more!!!

I thought that was the case, you have done what I suggested anyway, not much more you can do.

fill it with black boot polish, let it dry, then polish off. 😀
    works every time.

Funniest thing I’ve read all day.
I have done this same thing (sigh) and used a permanent black marker, very carefully.
