  • scoring in gloss laminate?

Posted by Ruairi O'Boyle on April 30, 2013 at 9:24 pm

We recently hand applied a printed graphic to composite board using a felt squegee. The top suface was metamark gloss digital laminate. I wet the surface to minimize friction but when we installed the sign and the client has complained about small score marks in the surface. Unfortunately it is directly below flourescent lighting which makes it look worse. What can i do to stop this happening the next time round?

    Hi
gloss is a pain for this i use the backing paper put on top of the laminate, the silicone side allows the squeegee to glide quite freely

Thanks Kev I will give that a try. I should have run it through the laminator but the print had no bleed design and left me needing to run it very exact as it was across 2 seperate panels.

You can get rid of the scratches by polishing the surface using "t" cut

also worth trying a heat gun as the laminate relaxes a little and scratches seem to flow out.
