    Hi Folks,

Just a quick heads up that I had a scam email nearly get through our system today.
Email came in asking for a quote for 11 No. pop up banners and everything looked ok. It wasn’t until the subsequent replies to our emails came back that it looked a little ‘off’. The main pointer was no mention of a telephone number in this chaps email signature which is odd for a company.
When we googled his company we then got a web page which lists lots of peoples experience with him.

For those who don’t know how this type of scam works, I believe it works like this.
He would have paid in a cheque to the bank which then looks like a BACS payment on our account. The amount he wouldve paid would be more than the actual invoice.
He then calls / emails us to request that we refund the difference to his account.
    We do this.
    The cheque then bounces.
We never hear from him again and he disappears with the refunded money.

I hope this helps someone and that this person gets the karma they deserve…

I had a fairly similar thing from an email address in Spain recently. I played along all the time thinking it was bound to be a scam. They were wanting me to fit 2 small signs at a hotel 140 miles from me. The nearest sign maker to the hotel is only 3 miles away and there are loads between me and them, anyway i kept them going, explained the distance etc, made them aware payment up front. They wanted to do the design but had me running round specifying this material and wanting spec sheets for everything. Sounded like a complete wast of time.
Low and behold, they paid me in full and last week i went and fitted the signs. I asked the Spanish owner why he asked me to travel so far when there is a sign maker just a long the road. Apparently they had a contractor in from Around this area who recommended me and they didnt bother looking elsewhere. Yes the majority of these things are scams but if you tread carefully you might just win a watch
