scaffold pole fixing
Posted by Derek Heron on November 7, 2006 at 10:31 amHi all
i have to fit an 8×4 alupanel sign to existing poles which are scaffold poles 49mm any pointers was thinking of an 8×4 sheet ply fixed somehow to the poles and then alupanel screwed to that (?)
the sign is just of floor level and out of the wind.

Hi Derek, the simple way is to use cable ties mate, or if it needs more support then the ply with jubilee clips then screw the sign to it?
Nick.

Derek, if you drill 2 holes were the poles are it should not slip mate, you can also put some rubber/foam there to to stop it slipping.

You can also get special scaffolding clamps that grip 2×2 timber

What about sign channel and 50mm clips they would fit a 49mm pole without any problems

too right nick showed the customer the cheap way and the right way
no competition realy. and he was happy to pay
the cable ties would have worked with the addition of some selftapers etc
but i will sleep a bit easier
plus i now have a local supplier.derek

Glad you got sorted, it always feels better if you do the job properly and you don’t get the customer coming back to you months later
