    Hi

Anybody ever cut sandblast stencil on a plotter?

I imagine it’s pretty thick, what size lettering can be cut for example?

    have only ever cut circles,Ian
It’s quite thick a lot of force and a double cut.
Don’t know how small you can go apart from trial and error. And maybe use a brand new blade when you do.

I can cut it on my 4B, easy as pie.
I hate making sandblasted signs so I have not done it in years.
But if memory serves, I think I used Hartco material and a brand-new 60° blade.
You could always pen-plot it and cut it by hand with a #11 X-Acto.
The stuff I used had like a cornstarch-y coating and made a powdery mess all over the place.
I had no problems cutting anything over 1" high and had to use every gram of weight I have. (individual weights)

Thanks for the input so far, does the sandblast stencil come with a backing paper so the middles of letters don’t fall out? Seems because of it’s thickness it would be difficult to set knife pressure easily.

Bit worried about using my only Roland plotter to do this work in case it puts too much strain on the motors, might get a cheapo Chinky one to sit in the workshop for sandblast only.

Want to use it to make carved/engraved stone signs, considered a small cnc router with a v cut bit but seems there are problems routing in stone that are difficult to overcome with a small unit.
