Well now that my new printer is running well with the manufacturers prefered Espon control and Maintop rip software I installed my upgraded Photoprint rip software ( essentially Flexisign 10.5).
Install went smooth and I registered it on their website because otherwise after 14 days it locks you out of the software.

When I went to print I got an error saying there was a missing .ddl file.
As the manufacturer is still on New Year holiday in China I contacted Sai to see if they could help…………No they can’t because the software despite being made by them is an OEM version and I should contact the vendor.

So I have legit software, with dongle, registered with the manufacturer and they will not supply support 🙄

Is it just me or would you expect manufacturer support for the latest version of their software?

SAi produce the SignPal software we supply via GCC, as an OEM product I would expect them to only give support to the supplier and not the end user, I have seen this with several OEM products.

    Hello Nigel
I have experience with running similar set ups, my photoprint server was updated by local roland dealer, they dont have any knowledge of the software they just sell it. My machines came with photoprint but i dont use that version because its cut down version.
Did you see the machine run before buying or did you just order it?. Im just about to have my machines in production I have been playing with ink sets profiles, dot sizes and pass settings. Takes time, to work it all out. Im running duel dx5.

What machine are you running Luke?

My machine is 1.6M single DX7 head.

It is operating perfectly with the Epson control software and Maintop rip…….but as I run my Mimaki with an older flexisign I would like to continue to use my old files……hence I bought the Photoprint upgrade with the printer.

The manufacturer are on New Year till today and emailed me to say they are back at the start of the week and will look at the issue…..I also need to find out where the dot size can be adjusted.

I have to say that apart from being closed for New Year the manufacturer have replied instantly to any queries I have had

I asked if my china suppliers could upgrade the rip but they only wanted to sell base model. I deal with a few companies in china and find them to be very help full but at times they will tell you to do some thing that will not fix problems and hope you will fix it along the way.

I will have to check in my control program where the dot size adjustment is, Im sure it is with the feed adjust or next to it. You will find number 0 to 15 these all work differently, you might get more ink down or less ink down, sharper print or print thats not in alignment, larger dots and smaller dots, just need to keep testing different numbers but I like to make my own profiles so once find the best dot I make profile for that. Need to go into settings and you might find this has a password pAn. Its also worth adjusting and testing the print styles, Im printing with wave I found the fuzz setting to work well on matt vinyl but not so good on gloss.

When I bought my machine dx7 heads were only available for china domestic market but now they are selling to international market.

I also have a jv3 it dosnt get much use these days but when I use it its good to run, I just leave the power on standby.

    Hi……..sorry forgot to update this.

There was no problem with the software………it does not output directly to the printer….you print to "file" then import the saved .prt file into the Epson control software….a bit long winded but it works and allows contour cutting of flexi/photoprint files.
