You may make more money if you offer to do wraps, but do them wet, as you may get away with it…
I dont bother about the cowboys anymore, they are here to stay, well for a few weeks till another one undercuts them.
Seriously do you think anyone would buy from that site?

sorry guys …I just had to post that as at first it made me chuckle then shake my head in disbelief!
I spent ages putting together a website and although its not fantastic at least as a sign maker I try my utmost to make sure my "spolling" is correct!!

It took me, uhm, ages to read through the website.

Copied this line: "Please note sizes are approximate dew to number of characters"

No mention of it, but spelling mistakes for free??

Now, for the scary part. IF I were to make vinyl lettering (no application) and IF said job involved merely cutting text in Swiss Bold, then…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….(I dont know how to say this)………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Im at least a third cheaper than this guy..

I’m no cowboy. I do this for a living, employ 8 people (10 as from 1st May), and pay a couple of vehicles and equipment financed at 12% interest per year.

Fortunately, this kind of work accounts for a very small percentage of my business.

I also do a lot of safety signs.

By way of comparison, for a 290 x 290mm ABS safety sign with digitally printed graphic, I charge N$ 30 excl. VAT. About GBP 2.00) Did more than N$ 100 000 in turnover making safety signs alone last month.

Price is determined by cost. We have low labour rates, low rent etc. Also, this is the kind of price charged by the INDUSTRY here. Count your blessings…

Give him a day, he will be here asking questions on how to do stuff.

At least his website name doesn’t have "signs" in it.
Reminds me of something very similar here.
I am actually thankful for this type of "sign" maker because I can send all the cheapos to them.

I hate to say this but you’ve probably increased his status with google now. He’ll be number one for signwriters in Yorkshire.

Lot to be said for bargain basement sign shops, you can politely palm off the time wasters, skin flints and naff boy racer stuff and still look helpful :lol1: Once they work how cr@p their work is, they will be back to pay your prices for descent job…..

I once had an enquiry from someone who said "I don’t have a problem dealing with companies like yours"….

…this made me sit up and notice (he clearly had a pre-conceived notion of the type of business I was running)

Why should anyone have "a problem" dealing with a sign company?

Clearly, the industry has been blighted by low standards… which affects us all.

What can we do to re-dress the balance?

    That’s not fair……Jack is well known…. :lol1:

So to educate those who really don’t know Jack Schidt read on…

For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schidt? We find ourselves at a loss when someone says, "You don’t know Jack Schidt" Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual way.

Jack Schidt is the only son of Awe Schidt.

Awe Schidt, the fertilizer magnate, married Miss O. Needeep They had one son, Jack.

In turn, Jack Schidt married Noe Idea (becoming Noe Schidt on marriage). The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schidt, Giva Schidt, Fulla Schidt, Bull Schidt, and the twins Deap Schidt and Dip Schidt.

Against her parents’ objections, Deap Schidt married her cousin Dumb Schidt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schidt divorced.

Noe Schidt later married Ted Sherlock, and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schidt Sherlock.

Meanwhile, Dip Schidt married Loda Schidt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chick N. Schitt.

Two of the other six children, Fulla Schidt and Giva Schidt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony.

The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schidt-Happens nuptials.

The Schidt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schidt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schidt.

Now when someone says, "You don’t know Jack Schidt," you can correct them.

    Sorry folks…I’ll get my coat…..
