I read in the paper today that a small town near us called Linlithgow is planning to erect a memorial plaque for “Scotty”.

Apparently, In the TV series it came out that “Scotty” was born in Linlithgow in the year 2220. So the local dignitaries are planning to immortalise a fictional character who hasn’t been born yet.

    Brilliant :lol1:

what a clever way to blow more good money. i wonder many cctv cameras that could have put in a town centre, or some of the graffitti removed from the walls. better still a good cause…. but nop…. what do they think up… scotty from star trek memorial. 😮

If you’ve ever been to a Trekkie convention you’ll know that Trekkie’s spend money.
Build a monument and they will come.
The council would be thinking of the mighty squid, No?
    Think of the merchandising ….

I’ll contact the council in the morning and bid for the job!

I’ll also propose that the plaque should be laser engraved ‘transparent aluminum’ 😉

Never underestimate the lengths a Star Trek anorak will go to. These people are a bit mental. Some of them have even learned the Klingon language, for fuck’s sake. 😮

BTW Best Star Trek moment for me was in Star Trek IV – The Voyage Home, when Scottie tries talking into the computer mouse……”Compyootah…..compyootah, och A’ll ave tae do it the old fashioned way.”

Actually I’ve already offered to make this for the council free of charge. I’m also planning a “limited Edition” run of 20,000 identical plaques available to trekkie fans for the amazingly low price of only £99 + VAT (complete with Dilithium crystal of course) 😉

    This is a true story:-

A prisoner having been found guilty of some crime was standing in the dock of a court waiting for the Judge to pass sentence.

The Judge addressed the prisoner and said “is there anything you wish to say before the court passes sentence”

At this point the prisoner reached into his jacket, pulled out his wallet, flipped it open and said “Beam me up Scotty”

bet that put a smile on a few faces 😀

    another true one…

a smart ar$e crook was handed 6 months in barlinnie jail by the judge.
the crook sniggered and said to the gallery, ill do that standing on my head!
turning back, the judge said…. well ill give you another 6 months on top to let you get back on your feet. 😉 :lol1:
