    Nice, neat and simple Robert.

Who do you use for S/S lettering?

    Cheers

Looks good mate, I always find getting the finger marks off the s/s letters is a bit of a pig especially the brushed ones !

Sorry to hijack your post, but just seen the monolith type sign in the foreground. I have to quote on Monday to supply size of a thing much like that but with 8/10mm clear acrylic panel in a weighted moveable base. Overall size of 1700highx1000wide.
Anyone do an off the shelf thing I could use or is it going to have to be 100% made to order ? How heavy would the base need to be bearing in mind it is going in a windy area ?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

your right mate they are a pig to keep clean 😉 i have metal cleaning fluid i use.. works well but still isnt perfect.

regarding the other sign, i really dont know. ive never a sign like that bu i do see them all over glasgow. i think spandex do something simular, but being spandex you can bet it wont be cheap for what you get! 😕
graphex also @may@ do them.. not sure but worth a go.

Cor Blimey Chief! You’ve been fitting some signs recently haven’t you Robert! Still can’t figure how you find the time to do it all mate, I’m expecting to see you wearing underwear on the outside of your clothes and cape tails hanging beneath your jumper when we finally meet up! 😉

Really like the way s/steel looks within signs. Its bizarre but I never thought about having to actually clean the lettering on completion of the job. I guess it’ll be like cleaning a s/steel hob or splashback. Great signwork as always though, I’m looking forward to seeing more of your stuff Robert. 😀

This may seem a daft answer. I have a mate who has a lot of stainless stuff on his bike and he swears by Johnsons baby oil as a cleaner. He says “Polish the whole surface lightly with Johnson’s Baby Oil. Applied with kitchen roll. It will come up like new!”

No guarantee that it will work as well on a brushed finish, but it may worth a try on a bit a scrap.

Lets hope Mrs Dewi doesn’t read this thread Steve or my cooker with stink of Johnson’s Baby Oil for a week! 😮 Hide the kitchen roll and run away, run away!! 🙄

Seriously though, its wierd how everyday household products can be applied to the sign industry. I know its the same in other lines of work, but the sign industry does seem to ‘borrow’ alot from both other trades and ‘under the kitchen sink’ 🙂 I was recently wandering around a trade centre and in virtually every aisle there was something that could be applied to the sign industry. Well nearly every aisle, admittedly the catering section was pushing it, but we all need a flask and a butty box so technically… 😉

steve, doesnt sound a bad idea mate. we have a stainless steel fabricator next door to me, after i mentioned the letters were hard to clean he told me to wipe them down in one direction with white spirits/turps 🙄
