  • Running a craft robo via vista, advice please?

Posted by shaun hayes on November 20, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Ok my main hobby is r/c model cars and I’m looking at doing vinyl cut decals for them
So nothing large, mainly no more than 3 cm high
I’ve read about a bit and I like the look of the Craft Robo
Main thing I really need to know is can I run the cutter and associated software from a laptop using Vista?
I know it says it’s vista compatible, but I’ve read about some people having trouble with vista and usb issues
    Any advice greatly appreciated
    Thanks

the craft robo is ideal for what you need
cant see why it shouldnt run under vista if it says it can.

I use the Craft Robo for T Shirt Vinyl which is excellent, but I find it a nightmare trying to get it to find the Registration Marks to cut out shapes. I always end up having to do it manually..

Just been talking to my brother about cutters
I mentioned some people use CorelDraw and he tells me that he can get me CorelDraw X4 for free
So will CorelDraw work with a Craft Robo?
Oh don’t worry it IS a legit version, as new in it’s sealed pack

Craft robos are cool, we run a few of these with primary schools using open office and vista, no problems at all. Bit noisy though!

There are many avenues to free and v. cheap X4, from cracked code ones to ‘borrowed’ multi user ones.
My guess is you are talking either of a borrow-install- return version from a graphic company or if it’s still boxed then one of the many education/academic versions that educational institutions buy and never open to use.

    Eco :lol1:

Oh, and yes, Corel will work a craft robo.

Well the Corel I’ve got is the real deal, brand new still sealed (well it was 😀 )
My bro got it for me F.O.C as where he works uses corel to design their packaging artwork and this copy was surplus

Bugger…….. :lol1: Seems I gave you wrong advice… to run a craft robo you would be much better with a simpler version of Corel… like corel 6………………………
Just so happens I’ve got corel 6 which I would be happy to swop for your X4 😎

No need to thank me, I just like helping people out….

Oh, and i’ll throw in a crispy 20 pound note for your trouble sir :lol1:

Then could knock x4 of my Chrissie present list , just leaving a CNC router, a Versacamm 540, a laminator, a flat bed UV printer, 2 pairs of socks with father xmas on them and and……..

    ian 😀
