    England in all black???????
I thought New Zealand only wore All Black.
Is that their away kit or have they ditched white?

I their ‘alternative’ kit! I wore Wales black alternative strip for the England v Wales games at twickenham, Wales wore red! I bought the red Wales rwc shirt in Cardiff for the return leg and Wales wore the black kit!

I’ve been told it’s etiquette for the home team to wear their alternative kit if the visitors choose to wear a clashing kit. Sounds odd to me!

Well, I was up at 4.15 to watch the match and what an agonising 80′ it was 😕
Got there in the end tho but Samoa were tough opponents.
Wales didn’t help themselves not capitalizing when they could but we won and that’s all we needed to do.
Harry, there was almost an angry letter on it’s way to the WRU 😀

Those games in the group against what are called ‘lesser opponents’ can be scary affairs! Dreading the thoughts of Russia and Italy. 🙁

Outstanding performance by the boyo’s today, all the way boys, just France to beat in the semi’s after their win over england in a minute 😉

France usually have one good game in a rwc, if today it would save England losing to Wales next week in the semi!

WALES, WALES, wow what a day to be Welsh.
Up at 5.45 to watch Wales beat Ireland then 20 miles in the Brecon Beacons and being kept informed by txt about England v France. I tell you it helps when your walking that distance and climbing 4500ft when the results go your way!!
Wales were outstanding today and their conduct during the RWC should be commended.
It’ll be very interesting to watch BBC Breakfast to see what the "unbiased" Sports Reporters have to say about this weekends results.
By the way Hugh I don’t think England would have stood a chance against Wales in the Semi but like you if the unthinkable happens I’d rather be knocked out by France!

The WELSH were playing England, and after the half-time whistle blew they found themselves ahead 50-0, Shane Williams getting eight tries. The rest of the team decided to head for the pub instead of playing the second half, leaving Shane to go out on his own.

"No worries," Shane told them, "I’ll join you later and tell you what happened." After the game Shane headed for the pub where he told his teammates the final score: 95-3.

"What!!!!" said a furious James Hook, "How did you let them get three points??!" Shane replied apologetically, "I was sent off with 20 minutes to go."

A mysterious white substance was found on the grass at Murrayfield.
After closer inspection, and forensic testing, the results came back.
The substance unfamiliar to Scottish players was, in fact…..

    …..

    the rules is easy,

no eye gouging, stay onside, at the ruck don’t touch the ball unless on two feet, the ref is god – no swearing or questioning him unless asking fo clarity of your error, and always pass backways, just about anything else goes!

    Hey Neil,

Don’t you think it’s strangely quiet in this RWC thread? there’s usually a few Scots, Harry for the Irish, Warren for the Boks, George (?) for England, and a few others too,

I guess we’re left with two lots of sheep fanatics, a colony of convicts and the bicycle riding men in stripes n onions.

    where is everybody?

I dunno about you Neil but, i’m getting sick with anticipation, everything is crossed – including things which you wouldn’t think able to cross, So wish i’d got tickets down to one of the big sadiums this weekend for the SF. If we beat the french i’ll most definitely be heading down to Wales for the final, where else on earth would you rather be to watch it?

ok, New Zealand, but where next on earth would you want to be? 😀

ok as a very proud English Rugby Man, i will take defeat graciously!!

    here it is:

For all the people suffering from depression after Englands defeat and early exit at the world cup, the RFU have opened a freephone helpline. Call 0800 101010, that number again oh eight hundred, won nothing, won nothing, won nothing…. Operators are standing by to answer your calls now!

Go on Wales, i would like to see you win it!! It will make beating you again in the six nations next year even more satisfying!! (sorry forgot i was being gracious in defeat!!)

Couldn’t agree more Hugh but due to some very bad planning on my part (granted, a few months ago) I’ll be at 35000ft on RWC Final morning. But if Wales get to the final I’ll be wearing my Welsh Jersey with pride.

Dan, next years 6 Nations can’t come soon enough after all this rugby over the past month. We’ll be suffering from withdrawal!! 😀

An English teacher asks her students if they’re England Rugby fans. Everyone raises their hand except one little girl.
The teacher says "Why aren’t you an England fan?"
The girl says "I’m a Wales fan"
    The teacher asks why.
"Because my mum is a Wales fan, and my dad is a Wales fan, so I’m a Wales fan too!"
The teacher says "That is no reason. What if your mum was an idiot and your dad was an idiot, what would you be then?"
"Then I’d be an England fan”.

Can’t be partying with the Welsh team…. they’re 12,000 miles away!! not to mention, he’s nowhere near pretty enough to hang out with the Wales squad!!

It was a strange affair down the club last night, a few – whom I’d sent racialist English rugby jokes to- decided to not talk to me but, the vast majority, were actually wishing me (Wales) all the best and rooting for us, A few sad souls let me know of their intention to cheer France on, they’re clearly to young to have been taught all about Agincourt in school so i’ll not hold it against them!

it was strange to walk in with a Welsh shirt on and not have to wear the thick skin undergarments which usually accompany it!

Come on Wales. If we do this i’ll be down off next friday and down to Wales for the final, there’s nowhere else on earth I’d prefer to be for it.. other than maybe err…. Seland Newydd

Gonna be a great morning tomorrow.

    COME ON WALES :wave3: :wave3: :wave3:

I know Neil, it’s a very strange feeling – sadly! With any luck… We’ll get used to it!!

I can’t believe itv haven’t got a morning full of highlights, I’m here watching sleepy F1 or Dora the explorer, woulda been great to have an hour or two of highlights and build up before kick off, instead we’ll get 25 mins of average pundit chat.

I slept on my Wales rwc shirt too… I changing nothing from last week – other than the full welsh brekkie – Top end sausages, eggs, oak smoked dry cured bacon, caerphilly cheese n leek potato waffles, laver bread, beans, toms, mushrooms and fried bread….. Mmmmmmmm, oh, and watching on the big tv downstairs. Rather than in bed!

Just 2hrs befor they run out for the anthems – throat cleared, head still fuzzy and chomping at the bit to get this started!

    quote Mark Nihotte:

Two and a half hours…GO WALES

    :wow: :wow: :wow:

    Hi mark,

Are you an exile or native??!!! Dunno about you but I’ve got all 10 fingers and 14 toes crossed!!

This is not sour grapes but I think Mr Rolland spoilt a fantastic Semi Final. He should lose his job. A yellow card yes but never a sending off. Sam is one of the cleanest players in the tournament.

    Bring back the gallows………… 👿

France in the final is going to make for a very boring one sided game and I’m glad now that I’m going to be at 35000 ft. Al least I get to see Wales in the 3rd 4th place playoffs.

The Welsh players can hold their heads up high an be so proud of themselves.

I agree he has wrecked a great semi final, why didnt he take a breath and seek advice from the video ref i will never know, well played Wales

Gutted for Wales, they left the game behind them despite having 14 men. We were screaming for Jones to have a go at the end…why, why why??? France were a beaten docket!
When, oh when will luck go against the French! 🙁

The more I see the tackle and read the rules the more I think when the dust settles you’ll see Roland made the only decision he could. It’s there in b/w in the rules. Too many broken necks and lives in the game.

Having given myself time to reflect, I agree with Neil,

Those boys did us proud, they truly did.

The sending off? I accept the rules but a number I’d similar tackles have either gone unpunished or got yellows, not red. the Tmo shoulda been involved. Not a streak of malice in warberton.

While we ultimately lost on missed kicks, there is no way that we should have had a ref of Irish and French parentage for such an important game, we beat his home country and were playing that of his father- no conflicts of interest there then. For the most part he ws fair – I think, I just wouldn’t have had him on this match. I can’t imagine seeing him on welsh dirt for a while after this.

While one cannot blame the French – what a meal they made of it, the guy wasn’t even winded, he was up in no time. The French play was very poor too, a few exceptions yrs but, with a one man advantage they shoulda romped it. They’re gonna get absolutely trashed on the final. No doubts.

Be fair Hugh, he has reffed the same match in the 6 nations many times without bother.
He may even get the world cup final. Alain Rolland is probably in the top 3 refs in the world.
He was following a directive from the Referees Committee which clearly says

    quote :

To summarise, the possible scenarios when a tackler horizontally lifts a player off the
    ground:
*The player is lifted and then forced or “speared” into the ground. A red card should be issued for this type of tackle.
*The lifted player is dropped to the ground from a height with no regard to the player’s safety. A red card should be issued for this type of tackle.
*For all other types of dangerous lifting tackles, it may be considered a penalty or yellow card is sufficient.
Referees and Citing Commissioners should not make their decisions based on what they consider was the intention of the offending player.

He wasn’t even allowed to judge intent.
The IRB want to stamp out this type of tackle, the fact that this was a RWC semi final ensured he got the red rather than the other way around.

France won’t go any further anyway! 😀

Hang on..whats going on.. Has it started..have I missed it..COME ON ENGLAND 🙄

Ok I did catch the last 8 minutes of the game, now I no rugby expert but why on earth didn’t Wales go for a drop goal thingy when they had the 1/2 chance in the dying minutes. I don’t know how many points you get but would surely have leveled it at least.

Saw the tackle on the news 😮 and agree with Harry as a total outsider to the game.

Unlucky Wales, dam good effort, should be proud of them selves

I understand why he was sent off, it just sucks that there’s been so much inconsistency with the ruling, no one else has been red carded for similar tackles.

AR is a top ref, I don’t disagree but I stll wouldnt have a ref with links like he had, he shoulda done today’s game.

While we lost because of missed kicks and opportunities, no one can deny that 14 men vs 15 was a big contributing factor to France’s lack of a loss – I’ll not call it a victory, it was 60 mins of uninspiring non attacking frence, not the France that beat england. France v nz- a waste of a final. The play off will be a better match, the final will be an absolute demolition of a barely mediocre french team.

Still, this is rugby, I’ll move on, I’m not bitter!!

Well I’m sure NZ would rather be playing Wales as I think if they beat France they’ll see it as quite an hollow victory.
Surely they’d prefer to have played the second best team from the tournament as it would have made for a hell of a game.
As it is I think this Friday’s clash with the Wallaby’s will be the match to watch.
Hopefully Wales can pick themselves up from the weekends disappointment and take the Bronze medal.

What’s the thought’s on that last 10 mins?
I watched it again last night, there must be questions about Jones’s bottle? Still can’t understand why they played it until a mistake was made.

I was blue in the face shouting drop it, drop it…. 🙁

Maybe not having played much up till this game was an issue a bit rusty perhaps!

On reflection I think it all boils down to not taking 11 points that were there on a plate. At this level they need to capitalize when ever they can.

Thankfully the team is young enough to go onwards and upwards.

Fridays game will be a test of their resolve.

aye, read The Rugby Paper this morning, all the Welsh comments form the squad but noting about not making a drop goal attempt. with so few seconds left ti go I guess he knew it would probably be the last kick of the game, if he missed – failure, by keeping it in hand and with Wales being the stronger team, a chance?

who knows, we weren’t playing and can only dream of filling their boots, regardless of the outcome, the if’s, but’s, maybe’s and should have done’s, I’m as proud as fuck of them boys and have never been more so.

Well it wasn’t to be but again the Boyos can hold their heads up high.
They exceeded all expectations in the World Cup so all in all it bodes well for the future of Welsh Rugby.

We may be back to the Wales I remember from my youth albeit a long time ago!

    Well done Wales 😀

You might be right Neil, was watching jpr etc lady night- magic stuff!

As for today? I don’t care about the result, that last five minutes / 30odd phases has shown the world what we can do.

I’m as proud as **** of that performance now, sod the result, they’re all winners in my book and they’ve done wales proud.

    Well done convicts.

What a great world cup this has been.

Just the demolition of a weak French team to look forward to now!!

I pains me to admit it but by 20mins I was rooting for the French, they played the better and much cleaner game. The ref was too lenient on the ab’s, consistently penalised the French, ignored hi tackles, etc. Nz also played the most unsporting slow ball – for the last 3 mins- that I’ve ever seen.

I dont believe france should have got yo the final but, got there they did, On the day, the French should have had that win.
