• Router Pacer Problem

    Hi….Can anyone help?

I was thinking today this would be a bad time for anything to go wrong….and it did…loads to cut over the next few days

The router seeks the starting point [datum] but won’t do an auto toolset .
The auto toolset command is also not highlighted.

When you do a manual cut the tool does not start rotating.
If you do a manual toolset and then start cutting the tool again does not rotate and will just break the bit as it lowers.

    Any help greatly appreciated

Alternatively if anyone knows an Engineer in Scotland that would be great 😀

    Thanks

this happened to me years ago with our router, so my explanation might be a bit rough. 😕 :lol1:

we had an important job that couldn’t Wait till the service engineer could get to us. over the phone i was instructed to test a few things like fuses, were little led light indicators on here and there? etc [i had the thing opened as i was doing the tests] anyway, from memory, i think i was told to take a bit of wire and touching one part of the circuit board, then the other end to touch where the wiring/fuse/whatever connection with the other end. when i did the bit started to spin… from here i was told to basically fasten this wire in place.

the downside is that the bit "wont" turn off… just keeps spinning. but it still got me running jobs for a couple of days till the engineer got to me.

now obviously this is not something to try at home, but seeing as nobody will see this i don’t mind telling you. :lol1:

i know this isn’t going to help you open up and get going on this, but might be something to suggest to a technician over the phone as a make do for now.

    Thanks Rob………

    This is very embarrassing 😳

Because I wanted to router cut lines as opposed to offset I had changed it to pen thinking it would router cut the line….I hadn’t changed it back….

After taking it to bits and sending photos the engineer said lets try something really stupid……. 😳 That’s me 😀
