  • Rounding corners on Dibond

    Hi All
I would be interested to find out what different methods are used for rounding the corners on 4mm dibond.
I know there are various suppliers of corner rounding hand operated machines… are they any good? ……will they put a 25mm radius on 4mm dibond / reynobond.
    Paul.

I have mine CNC machined, but its an expensive way of doing it unless you are on good terms with the owner.

I use a jigsaw, with care you can cut 3 or four pieces at a time and it’s one less tool to buy, and you can cut any radius you want or come to that any shape panel you want.
I suppose if I had a lot to do I might buy a dedicated tool but for the odd 8-10 jobs it’s not worth it.

    Router for me.

D/S tape circles of 5mm PVC (in the size of your choice) to the corners & use a trimmer (blade with a bearing) to profile them off. Lift of the circles…onto the next sheet.

Done loads of them like this in 3mm di-bond & 3/4mm aluminium and the results are perfect.

A method I use is to cut a guide / template from scrap mdf / ply with the radius required. . clamp this under the panel corner and buzz the router round. . ( edge trim bit – the one with the bearing on ) quick simple and guaranteed perfect corners every time !

    Many thanks for the info
….seems a router is the preferred way to go!
Do i need an aluminium cutter or will a standard wood cutter be ok?

A TC Cutter (Tungsten Carbide) will do fine. AVOID HSS (High Speed Steel) cutters – they are useless!!

I’ve found TREND are pretty good..and do spare bearings too!
