    Goodmorning everybody,

yesterday we visited FESPA in Amsterdam and we fell in love with… the Rolls Roller 540. Has anyone of you experience with this machine? We’ll probably buy it with the ‘electrical adjustable height’ option. Thanks for all your ideas or comments on this machine.

    Cheers,
    Bart

I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING BUT GOOD REPORTS ON THIS MACHINE. SAW IT AT SIGNUK AND WAS IMPRESSED TOO. 😀
(WHEN I SAY GOOD REPORTS, I MEAN USER FRIENDLY) I KNOW LITTLE ABOUT THE MACHINE.

Bart, had a look here http://www.williamsmith.co.uk/index.cfm … tentID=208 is this the one?

Mate need heaps of room don’t you. The ezy taper is a better option for me because of its small foot print, and I can do long laminates too, but I could see that it has its benefits, just not sure a smaller sign shop could justify it.

Do you get a lot of big jobs that would make this viable? I’d imagine you’d have to keep it working full time to justify the expense.

As I say, ezy taper will laminate clear laminate on to material, or laminate onto a substrate upto 9mm thick, self adjusting and everything. Thats not to say I wouldn’t want one if I could afford it 😉

Thanks for your comments Shane. We work a lot for a big building contractor who needs a lot of big full colour signs. In 10 minutes time you can apply a print to a 250×125 forex panel without having to move the panel. Now we need 20 minutes to half an hour for that…

The EZY-taper looks a really nice machine but isn’t really what we are looking for right now. Do you know if there is already a distributor in Belgium and the Netherlands for the EZY-taper?

    Cheers,
    Bart

Bart I can do a 2500 x 1250mm fourex panel by myself in a few minutes too with the ezy taper.

I’ll see what I can find out for you and get back if I can. I know they have got most of europe and sth america covered, but not sure where exactly.

Cheers mate, good talking to you.

hi.. i tested the ezytaper.. its good machine but we didn’t get on with it very well, maybe us but staff went back to their existing print mounting methods as they found it easier as they been doing that for the last decade, the pressure is another thing our staff didn’t like, it was fairly weak application between the rollers which I guess is to do with them being soft. The Ezy does tape backing/flood coating etc., which is very well done but didn’t really justify the cost.

However the Rolls certainly has improved since I saw it a few years back at SignUK under a different name, having a roller to move around instead of moving the material would give better mounting accracy in our view and to double it up as a mounting table with a back light, well that could be useful. Not sure on prices but it did catch our attention this one.

We’ve got one being installed in our Grimsby centre first week of June – 5 mtr bed. it’s going to replace a work bench but the thing weighs in at over a ton and we’ve got to get the builders in to move some partitioning – I’ll put some feed back once we have had a good play with it.

Morning Bart – sorry for the delay in coming back to you, been on the road most of this week so not spent much time on the net.

We’ve had the Rolls in place for 2 weeks now and other than the disruption of knocking a hole in the wall to get the beast in we can’t say enough good things about it.

Application of large prints and slabs of vinyl have been dramatically speed ed up – but the machine is very easy to use so even relatively inexperienced staff still feel confident with large pieces of vinyl – i I’m sure one of the guys who is now using it on a daily basis would give you the full SP.

    all the best – Craig

    Hey Craig,

glad to hear that all goes well (except of the breaking out of your wall 😕 )
We’ve ordered one that should be delivered by the end of august. 😀
We also decided to buy our first wide format printer: a Mutoh Rockhopper III with the new Eco-Ultra solvent inks and Caldera RIP-software. There goes all our money :lol1:
Last but not least: we’re moving our firm to a new building (440 sq. meters). Opening festivities planned for 01/09. It will be a hot summer! 😎 😮 😎

    Ciao,
    bart
