  • Roland wipers, are they working?

Hi again all, I have a sp300v and when the wipers do there job it makes a clicking noise like the belt slipping. I thought this was normal but I watched as it was wiping and it goes half way across and the noise starts. Sometimes it makes it across. Do you guys think the belt has gone or something like that? Thanks

don’t know if the 300 is the same as the bigger ones but if the wiper go in and out to wipe the heads. then hide in a hole. in side the hole is a wiper that wipes the wipers.
if that has split or the wipers have swollen then it will make a clicking noise.
it needs investigating and sorting quick as its not doing the job and you will end up with damage and or drops of ink on your work.

    Hi, Damien,

If the wipers do not go all the way, try cleaning the metal shaft on which it moves.

I find that sometimes some gunk collects and hardens on this shaft. The linear bearing of the wiper carriage then jams on this dirt.

Clean it off, and it will do its job like its supposed to

I think the belt that drives the wipers has stretched. It seems to be slipping. I will order a new one and hope for the best.

That whole are gets pretty scabby on all these machines, particularly if you’re using non genuine wiper blades. Digiprint do a very good selection of replacement filters and other parts for those machines and they’re a doddle to fit. Why not treat to an overhaul and a bloody good clean up. Set aside half a day to do it and you’ll be up and running again in no time. It’s not a difficult job, just messy.

I keep it super clean anyway. It was the belt that was the problem. Now it doesn’t make the noise and cleans all the way across the heads. Works alot better now and doesnt get drips on the job.
