Roland VSi Print – Laminate – Cut
Hi Guys,
Just wondered if anyone can offer some tips on this. I’ve watched numerous videos explaining the process but I’ve never really got on with this feature. I think I’ve successfully done it once! 😆
Anyway I have a big job coming up where this is the only option, so no other option than to work it out.
Some of the tips I’ve used is:
Print with crop marks
Do not move the pincer rollers at all
Mark the media so I know exactly how it was loaded
Not to alter the RIP at all another than switch from print to cut
Keep bright light away from the sensor..Thought I had it nailed earlier..millimetre precision and then it cut about 30cm to the right of the graphic 😆

Haven’t got your machine but have 3 print & cut Rolands, always been temperamental on scanning registration marks. You’re spot on with the app tape over the reg marks before laminating. If it isn’t picking them up on the scan, try switching on your phone torch & shining it on the crop mark as the cutting head passes over it, also, double check that there’s no fluff build up on the scanner eye.
I always base point the blade on the bottom edge of the first registration dot -

Keep a check as well James that the material is lying flat in the machine. We’ve had instances were we’ve been working with a stiff media and it hasn’t been lying properly in the machine. Solved this by holding it down with a metal ruler while each mark was been read

Thanks for the reply David.
It turned out that the optical eye was clogged with ink. All that time avoiding working it out and it was just a simple case of a deep clean!
