    Good Morning Guys!

I was printing some banners off this morning i heard a strange nose coming from the printer. i when to the machine and as i go there is stopped saying there was a motor error, tired to move the head back to its starting position and it wouldn’t move.

I’ve since taken the the cover off and seen that the ribbon behind the head is catching on a small secret board and jamming.

Has anyone seen this before? if so how do you get it working again? i’ve got 30 banners to get printed in the next 24 hours so need it running ASAP!

I’ve attached a couple of pictures so you can see what i’m seeing!

    Mikey

Hi Mikey. I can’t see from the pictures exactly what the problem is but if it’s physically stuck, have you managed to unfree it yet? I know that some Roland’s suffer from the trailing cables snagging and causing errors, is this the case on yours? If so, some making tape and cable ties should be able to get you by for a few hours or until an engineer can get to you?

Yeah i’ve managed to sort it now and we are back printing!

the protection ribbon seems to have a small kink in it that was stopping it moving as normal and was causing the jam, i’ve just straightened out the kink and we are going good!

Excellent. I’m pretty sure the replacement parts are reasonably cheap so shouldn’t break the bank 😉

    Hi Michael,

just a little advice for you – this is a common problem on the Versacamm. This white trailing cable gets caught and/or damaged very easily.

You might start getting issues with you media setup ‘right pos error’ or ‘pinch roller error’.

It also controls the cutter, so could cause issues here.

    Hope this helps.

The white cable wasn’t the problem it was the clear protective strip that was the problem. It has a slight kink in it, i took the kink out and we was all go again.

We had the ‘right pos error’ and ‘pinch roll error’ problem last year and had it all changed, i was surprised we had another so close to having it fixed.
