Roland color system library- how to read values?
Posted by TimDouglas on January 17, 2011 at 9:22 amCan anyone help me with reading the values to convert into CMYK values?
It is the color chart type 1 from versaworks,
It is the pure color section which has PR01 – PR50 accross the top and A-K down the side ,
Many thanks

I don’t think the values will help you. I’ve converted them in Coreldraw to CMYK on occasion and they print out completely different to the colour library.

Is there any other chart that i could print from coreldraw to get me a range of colors without making my own?

What you you have to do is load the swatch into the programme and just select it from there. That way the colour comes out exactly the same. You can’t
just use the values as they won’t be the same. -
To use the Roland colour library you need to go into Versaworks and and in the media menu select the colour chart type 1, this is then printed at the settings currently selected in A or B depending which is active.
You then use the printed colour library to select the colour number you find closest to what you need on the media and at the settings used, in reality I’ve found these to be fairly close over a range of settings and media.
In Coreldraw X5 the Roland library is already included for all other versions you need to load it, there are instructions on Rolands website.
They also do a version for Illustrator. The colours have to retain their name/number to print correctly and you also have to tick the box in the queue properties under file format, I think it’s specials colours.
Rolands website has a load under support all about using this feature.
