    Please help!

Our BN20 has worked fine for 4 years but it has suddenly decided to change the blue in the Union Jack to purple.

    We have-

    – changed to new inks, (all Roland),
    – re-imported the design,
    – restarted everything numerous times,
    – test nozzle print comes up fine,
    – cleaned everything manually and system clean, Etc, etc.
    – the inbuilt test pattern is bluish/purple though Roland argue it is correct, (when we sent them a photo).

We have before and after prints taken with an hour between them. One before and one after the problem. The colour difference is obvious.

The tech guy from Roland was so sarcastic and he said it was funny that no customer has ever had this problem before. And he suggested I invest some money in training to learn how to use the machine I have had for four years.

The design itself is one we have printed many time over 2-3 years.
The colours have not changed. Nothing has changed over the 50 minute period.

I am being fobbed off by the tech guy who now says it is because the design was printed in draft mode. But even their own videos says that will not change the colour. And if it did how come it hasn’t for year after year. Plus, even on slow high quality print the colour is still purple!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I once tried to print royal blue n it came out purple, on my BN 20 changed cmyk values to 100:70:0:18 n it works for me, double check the export to,eps settings, ? I kinda assume though that Roland might have thought of this before me tho so maybe I’m talkin guff

    Cheers mate…, will try.

However, as the design was already in the print queue and had been for some time I do not feel it can be an export Eps problem. Or it would not have worked the first few times.

Though, I am at such a loss I will try anything. LOL.

The Roland tech people think I am an idiot. They say it is printing perfectly and refuse to do anything. They say it is printing the colour we have asked it to print. But that is not what has happened.

How can it print a design fine and then not 45 mins later, (from the same job in the queue) it now changed the Blue to Purple?

    Any other ideas all welcome!!

PS – We pay £1400 a year for Roland Care by the way. A lot of money just to be patronised!

It starts printing fine (correct colour) then after a time the colour changes?

If so, sounds like a ink supply issue – pump?

    Hi Colin,

    Sorry no.

The machine works fine. It just does not now print royal blue. All other printing is consistent.

From our usual CorelDraw program, (on 3 different computers) we have designed test boxes using a whole range of blues. The only ones which print are the light blues. As soon as we try to get darker the colour turns purple.

And it is a consistent colour even when printed on different days.

We are going crazy!!! Makes no sense at all.

    Thanks for the advice though.

    Gary.

    Yes did that.

Same file prints fine when through a sublimation printer and when saved as a Gif and printed on a standard desk top.

    Cheers

Many things could have changed over the period of time
    You have changed inks
    Posibly changed profile
Changed or new material even a different batch
    Versa works probably upgraded
Some materials accept ink differently as the humidity changes

I would print the colour swatch for the blues pick the one you want and change the file to a new one to suit
Now if that blue changes while printing posibly the printer faulty
I am not a grand lover or vw but that’s the only way I can hit colours I want
