  • Rockhopper fixer won´t heat up

Posted by Marko on March 25, 2009 at 2:57 pm

    Hi again

Just noticed that my Rockhopper 46" stopped heating the fixer (you know the area below the printheads). Noticed that the ink kind of floated on the vinyl.
Any ideas how to fix this other than a new heater.
If I need to replaceit, any ideas where to buy (other than our dealer, who says it´s around 250 – 300€).

To replace they are a mini electric blanket with d/sided tape to hold in place If you don’t get in place properly first time you’ll wreck it taking it back off!!

Our back heater has gone but lucky enough it’s in a small print room so just use an electric heater to get the temp up. 😕

I don´t think that the fixer is like you described. I guess it comes with the metal parts up front. (Not sure though.)
I know that the front and back heaters are as you mentioned.

Any idea where to order one?

Ring Artsystems and they’ll give you some contact details for resellers.
I think Allan at Flynn signs deals with these as well.

the pre and post heaters are very easy to fix, there are tiny fuses on the back of them covered with a rubber, cut of the rubber and solder on a 5amp fuse wire, and off they go again.

Ian, sounds like you´ve done this.
You say pre and post heater. In the early Rockhopper models it was like that, but the newer models came with direct heater (fixer) that is located right under the printheads, not before them like a pre heater. Which model do you mean?

Anyway, I thought there has to be a fuse, just didn´t find one when opened the cover. I´ll look again.
    Thanks.

Ok, located the fuse, changed it to a new one but unfortunately that didn’t help.

    Any other ideas?
