• Road Rage?

Posted by Phill Fenton on January 30, 2009 at 9:04 am

Yesterday afternoon I was at a job in a factory unit off the beaten track. The roadway leading up to the unit was pretty much just a dirt track being full of potholes.

As I left, another van left just in front of me. However, I had noticed as he reversed out that his side sliding door was still open so I flashed my lights to try and get his attention. He didn’t appear to notice so I tried to catch up with him which was not easy given the state of the road way. The faster I went, the faster he went, so I continued to flash my lights and began beeping my horn to try and get his attention. He just drove faster and faster and our two vans went at perilous speed down the dirt track – me with my horn blaring and him with his side door still open. In a desperate atttempt to let him know what was wrong I tried to overtake but he swerved into my path and blocked me from doing so. Eventually I decided to give up and slowed down again. Meanwhile, he pulled over about 100 yards up ahead (most likely he had decided to fight me 😕 ).

As I pulled alongside he wound down his window – face contourted with rage. Realisation finally dawned on him when I explained that his side door was open and I had been trying to get him to stop :lol1:

the craziest one i ever witnessed was a few weeks ago, walking along the road and two cars screached up in front of me, the occupants flew out of both cars then started punching lumps out of each other, screaming their heads off while doing so….then the female shouted out ‘i smell drink off you’ next minute they all shot back into their cars, all because someone was driving at 20mph crazy….but funny too 😀

I know what you say. I’ve done similar Phil. Now, if they don’t stop, I just let them go.

I see road rage all the time in our cities.

I get calls all the time from people following my van, and ring me on my mobile. I refuse to pull over until they tell me what they want to discuss. Most want to talk about signing their vehicle and stuff, but if they are really vague, I tell them I’m running late and tell them to call me later.

Too many instances of people being asked to pull over, then beaten to a pulp because they cut someone off.

I was with my father who apparently cut off a truck driver a while back, the Truckee overtook him illegally, then slammed his brake on, we narrowly avoided smashing under the tray of the truck. Then the driver waved a tyre lever out the window….. It was scary stuff and my father was horrified.

We had an incident not far from here that pretty well sums it up. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/stor … 02,00.html

Young guy had minor incident according to the police. The offending driver pulled over and the young guy pulled over too, got out of his car to ‘discuss it’, and was shot twice at close range. He died at the scene.

I just keep to myself, if anyone wants to rant and rave, I just ignore them. I’m not an argumentative type anyway, but its just not worth it confronting anyone, no one wins, but everyone loses.

The bloke in the story paid the ultimate price…. for what.
