We have just purchased a roll of Ritrama Easy Apply Regular Etched Window Vinyl.

We are really struggling to get the application transfer tape to apply to the backing paper, it just keeps lifting.

We have attempted to use DeTape Medium Tack Clear and R Tape Conform 4050RLA paper tape, but both tapes keep lifting once applied.

What are we doing wrong? Is there a special application tape we need to use with etched window vinyl?

Once we have applied the application tape we need to roll the window stickers up for postage.

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

    Thank you.

how tight are you rolling it? I never roll larger decals on a core, too small, let them loosely unroll to naturally fill a 150mm sq box, like that the vinyl comes in..

We are struggling getting the application tape to apply to the backing paper before we attempt to roll. Didn’t know if you guys are using a high tac tape on frosted vinyl.

I have the same situation with Metamark M4-OF easy apply frosting, the application tape looks horrendous when rolled though bizarrely it works perfectly every time.

    Have you tried fitting it?

    Hi Alex,

    Thank you for your reply.

We make and send out our wall stickers for our customers to install, we don’t do the installations ourselves.

We are even struggling to roll it up for posting, it just looks awful.

Have you tried using a weed box around the graphic and trim just outside the box so it leaves a little waste material all round ?
That way the app tape will grab onto the edges

That’s how I do all my vinyl. Even when I using it myself to roll up and take to site for installation.

That’s a great tip, I will try this and will let you know how I get on.

I’ve now given up trying different application papers and moved over to a high tack clear one which works much better and customers who install their own decals much prefer it to the normal paper type, plus it sticks much better and is much easier for applying.
