Rhinestone Plotting Software?
Posted by Simon Strom on July 14, 2011 at 8:36 pmHi everybody! My father-in-law has a t-shirt business and he asked me to find some info on rhinestone plotting software. He has a 24" wide Graphtec (ce5000-60 Graphtec)
and some version of FlexiSign (I think, and I’m not sure which version). I think they mostly use Illustrator CS3 (Windows), but I know he was talking about upgrading to CS5. I just don’t know if he’s done that or not yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated though. I’m not super familiar with plotting software / hardware these days. I’ve only used a CasMate Cut running on an old Mac Quadra a long time ago here at my company! Thanks!

A quick google search revealed that it is a soft especially useful when putting beads or stones on the design.

I think you are looking to use your existing hardware? Have a quick look at this Ioline plotter though for inspiration…

It picks the rhinestones up and puts them on a transfer sheet.
Using a normal plotter however, I think you cut out holes on a template and then scatter the rhinestones over and they fall in place through the holes? I think Corel has a macro to plot the circles from a vector drawing. Hope that helps a bit.
EDIT:
Graphtec do some software and stencil stuff for the Craft Robo, I think it should work on the full Graphtec.

Thanks for the info guys! I’ll check those options out. I know that Graphtec has an app called i-DesignR that can do Rhinestones. My main worry about any other app is if it will work with his Graphtec plotter. I’ll call and email around to just be sure which ones do and then I can give him the best options to choose from.

Yeah David, This is the one I originally saw. It might be the best solution as it’s known for sure to work with his plotter. I just wanted to check out all options before he bought anything else.

We’ve tried lots of rhinestone software but the latest offering rStones blows everything else away

Plenty of videos on Youtube too 🙂 Here’s an example:

The latest versions allows you to do seperations i.e. create a design with different colours, seperate the colours and cut a pattern for each colour.

I believe the product Graphtec sell is a version of Signlab.

The rstones software look ideal, can u ask where you purchased it from as that sites looks American?
Ideally I would like so stick with illustrator but I understand it just not possible so this looks like the next thing using parallels.

The rStones software is a plugin for Coreldraw. We haven’t used it a great deal yet but, I followed it’s progress throughout its development and the coder received a lot of feedback and suggestions from users and adapted it accordingly.
You can see the development thread on the T-Shirt Forum. The developer’s name is Jeff and the thread has grown to 24 pages! http://www.t-shirtforums.com/rhinestone … 50843.html
You can download the software here http://www.rstones.ru/index.php?view=article&itemid=1
The software is far cheaper than Roland’s R-Wear and hugely more usable – we purchased 5 licences.

I think it might even be cheaper to try and find a used copy of X3 or X4 for him and then buy the rstones plugin, rather than pay $200 for I-DesignR Lite. I’m a big fan of smaller developers. In my experience they often interact with users directly and are more likely to add feature requests. It would be nice if the plug in worked with Illustrator though as he already has that app.

Ok, so I think he most versatile and economical solution is to go with CorelDRAW and get the rStones plug in. Before I buy though , is there a huge difference between X4 and X5?
