Revisiting Cheap Ebay cutters….are they any better?
Hi everyone 😀 and thank you in advance for reading my post, after all, right up there in the title ^ it even admits that this has been covered before.
I have been doing a lot of reading about this, but I am struggling a little to get up-to-date information, especially for people in the same sort of situation as myself. a lot of information seems very contradictory, with loads of people saying they are a big pile of pants, others saying that they have little or no issues with them. Looking at the date it seems like a few years ago they were very hit and miss, but lately they are getting better?
So what situation am I in?
I don’t want to run a business on them.
I only want to be able to produce low volume for a forum that I run.
I have been having difficulty getting designs cut in low numbers. (please see my Hello post if you want more info on that)
but basically I would love the versatility to produce my own designs from home, but due to the low volumes it is really hard to justify spending the money required for even a second hand Roland / Graphtec when these chinese machines may well be capable of the things that I need. I have read a few posts round and about that redsail models have been used successfullyI suppose a little more background on me might help with the advice and feedback you give me (this is not a boast section, but I figure you need to know about me as well as what I plan to do to give me the best of your advise and experience)
I am computer literate (I’m a computer network engine of 10 years experience)
I am able to use graphic design packages without throwing the computer through a window (currently illustrator, Photoshop, a little fireworks) not a genius, but I can usually produce the design that I’m aiming for 😀
I like fiddling with things 😀
Print wise, I know as much as is needed in my job to install laser / inkjet / photocopiers on networks /computers and fault find on them.I guess another thing to note is that if possible in the future I would like to be able to produce clothing (tshirts / hoodies) and would prefer not double up on equipment
Many thanks in advance for any advise you guys can give me
