reverse print window graphic
Posted by payads on February 14, 2005 at 9:00 pmHi all
help,
Customer wants window graphics done in one piece 2m2 in clear vinyl.
They also need to be able to see through parts of the graphics(clear).
Is there a wide format printer that can infill white where the graphics and text are going to be,( not flood fill like what the edge can do).thanks

reverese print onto clear vinyl then laminate in white vinyl.
then simply follow the demo i have done for the rear of vehicles windows, “cutting the graphic into 2mm strips.
the good thing about this is.. you dont need a 2mtr wide machine. you can cut the job in two parts because of the spaces between the lines there will be no join.hope that helps some 😀

No thats no good Rob, I would submit a graphic for better explanation, but the add attachment isn’t visable.

if you mean that the complete image has lots of areas without any print and its only 2m x 2m then just get the prints done for those printed areas with a contour cut.
using the contour cut file cut the shape in white.
once the prints in place, “using registration marks” cover the same printed areas in regular white vinyl.
that way your getting a perfect finish between the printed areas as clear vinyl, allow clear isnt just clear.. if that makes sense 😉 :lol1: -
agree with what your saying, but there has to be an easier way to do this job.
If I could upload the graphic you could then see the reason why im looking for it to be done in a oner.why dont i have the upload file function anymore, its disappeared

You can’t post images in this forum Frank (see the list at the bottom right of the screen) – but I would do as Rob suggested I think because I don’t think you will find a printer that will do what you are asking.

You could do it in strips with an edge. I do this sort of printing all the time onto clear window cling with both white backing and white edges (even chrome) with no problem. Just depends if you can suffer the strips or need it in one piece.
