  • Retro style font used for car name badges

Posted by Fran Hollywood on July 11, 2006 at 11:10 pm

I’m looking for a font that looks like the chrome name badges you used to get on cars years ago, they were usually all linked by a top or bottom bar. Something a little thicker and stylised than the one below ….if you have any ideas

I did try 23 pages at Dafont and have a couple of possibles (as below).

    Try this

and look for American Dreams, I used one of the retro fonts last week in creating a sticker to go on to a cream 1940’s ford which is peeping out of the garage in the pic

There are a few free ones out there.
Two that come to mind are Airstream and Air Conditioning.
They might even be the same font.
    Just Google "Airstream Font"
    and see what comes up.
    Love….Jill
    edit:
    Forget Airstream…it’s not connected.
Here is the link for the other, called Air Conditioner:

    Thanks Jill,

I came across Air Conditioner while searching Dafont. I thought that there would be loads but they are difficult enough to find.

It’s "Cars" the movie that has created this request and l now have to do one for my son, so it has to look authentic.

    Cheers

    Fran
