Put a post on a couple of weeks ago, looking for any feed back on these machines. Have been offered one at under £10,000 complete with rip just wanting to know the pros and cons before parting with my £££

I know the grenadier is the latest type but a little out of my price range,
the Cadet sounds good but not wide enough on the print size so I am thinking this seems a good bet as I am being told it runs the same inks as these two but is slower and not quite as good on the print quality..
I am sure there must be someone out there with first hand experiance of this macine…. If not I wonder if that means they are a bit of a white elephant?
Already have one of those… Roland CJ70 dont want to make the same mistake again.

    Cheers
    Ian

I have a friend that has one, I guess it’s 2 and a half years old now (how do you get a half symbol!)

He had a few problems with it when it was new, the problems are pretty much sorted now & he has been using the same heads for a year or so.

Like you say it’s a bit slower & the resolution is not as high, it’s still capable of outputing some great stuff though.

I would say it’s well worth considering, make sure you get a warranty included in the price, just in case 🙂

He bought the machine as he won a contract with Stapletons (a large tyre distributor)

Here is one of the many vans he done for them….

    Thanks Brian,

There is a 6 month warrenty on it and it has just been taken in as a p/x they have given it a full overhaul so I am hoping it should be ok.
Can he print onto uncoated media and does ot last ok.
    cheers

Prints onto uncoated media, banner material etc. He usually covers the print with clear vinyl or a spray laminate. (Doesn’t have room for a laminator)

As you say the inks are the same so I guess you should be able to print to just about anything the Grenadier can.

He has never had a problem with durability….

The machine cost him around £23k when he bought it, so getting a re-furbished one with a warranty for under £10k seems a pretty good deal.

the company i work for has one and we had nothing but problems with it
we bought it about 3 years ago for over 20,000 and it really is CRAP!
our perticular machine constantly needed solvent flushed through it every day but the pipes still seemed to block up
also the cogs that spin round used to break and the colour drops out after a metre or two of printing
the rip we had with it ‘shiraz’ used to always crash and stop the print
    basically it was awful
apparently a lot of companys have also had many problems with theres to
now we only use ours for small logos otherwise it sits in the corner gathering dust
i would personally steer well clear (:)

Sounds like you got a rouge machine Steve.

The guy I know as I say had problems in the beginning, but for the last year it’s has been 100% reliable.

I would ask your supplier for some references Ian, there are plenty of people out there that are happy with the machine….

Ian I’ve had my Resolve for 18 months now and I have had a lot of problems with it.
I was told it would print on any uncoated materials, this of course is (oh I swore) It is limited to a few materials and in many cases it needs laminating for protection. I guess it has it’s good points but not worth the 21,000 I paid for it.

Getting a little worried now!! may have to have a re-think…
just seems that buying a cadet is a real limit on the size..
    thanks for the posts though
