• Replacement Onyx RIP

Posted by Raman Singh on September 6, 2011 at 7:37 pm

    Hi guys,
Has anyone got any experience with getting replacement for stolen RIP dongle.
When we purchased our printer (Mutoh 1304) we got Onyx X11 RIP at a special price, recently we had a breakin and our systems were stolen with dongle in it.
Would we be able to get replacement ??

it was provided through Art Systems I believe.

I would be surprised is Art Systems didn’t offer you an affordable option out of this problem… i mean i had a demo of onyx from a reseller that came with a dongle/box which i had registered for 30days.

to make it worthwhile, you may end up paying for upgrade…. who knows.
The serial numbers might be registered to you already or maybe on an invoice.

It is my understanding that you can obtain a low cost or free dongle for Onyx, for a lost
or damaged one, but you can only do this once. I would check with your supplier.

If you were using Shiraz and this happened, you would need to pay for a new license!! I know it sounds a bit steep but what’s to say you haven’t done a deal with ‘dodgy Bob down the pub’ and made a few hundred quid out of it? If the dongle was broken, then you could send it back and pay for the price of the dongle and a small admin fee and have a replacement sent out next day, but lost or stolen…. I think you could be in for a hefty bill I’m afraid.

A word of advice for the future would be to make sure you take your dongle off site when you leave (maybe keep it on your car keys) along with your valuable data backups.

Best of luck though, hopefully the guys at Art Systems will be gentle with you.

    Stafford
