  • Removing vb taped perspex letters from facia

Ive got a job to replace some perspex letters from a facia.
The old perspex letters are bonded to the signtrays using vb tape
    (double sided tape)

Has anyone got any experience with removing bonded letters without damaging the trays?

The letter type face is fortunatly very thin, no more then 15mm thick.

Do you think that using a hot air gun would soften the glue up enough to price the letters off?

    Thanks in advance

I’ve always used a couple of 6" lengths of dowel with a length of 12" fishing line tied between them. Insert the line under the edge of the letter and use a sawing type motion across the letter. Works really well.

You can also strangle people James Bond style with the wire if they tell you you spelt something wrong.
