Anyone done this before? I’d prefer to remove the handles for my first partial wrap going on this week. I’m guessing I had to remove the interior trim to get to some screws to remove the handles.

I’ve taken the locks / handles off a few cars & vans (replacing them).

It might look marginally better, but will the customer thank you for taking out the door cards, slicing / peeling back the plastic skin behind (both the weather seal & also sometimes part of the side impact detection), unhooking the handle & lock linkages, unbolting the handles – looking at a good few hour work to ensure you don’t deform anything / get it put back right if all four doors. All you’ll need is one tiny thing to go wrong / get broken and you’ve lost the profit on the whole job.

Commercial vans are usually easier / more basic and might take just 5 to 10 minutes a door!

Just weigh up the extra money made / job satisfaction against the lost time & risks.

Cheers David. If its that much work I will work around it. I more wanted them out of the way to make my life easier installing so I won’t have to cut the handles free and drop the vinyl behind them.

    Hi
VW’s used to have a very simple system not sure about your model. You removed 1 screw from the door edge which allowed the handle to unclipped from the opposite end. You didn’t have to remove door card etc.
