    Hi all,

I’ve recently had some foamex / foam board panels direct printed using UV inks. The panels are part of an exhibition set touring the country. For part of the tour I need to add some new logo’s to the boards.

Once that part of the tour is complete, I need to remove the logo’s leaving the existing printed boards undamaged.

I’ve suggested to my client using removable printed vinyl (all print stock this in there JAC range I believe) but I’ve never used it myself and am worried about damaging the printed panels.

Can anyone give there experience using this or similar materials or even suggest an alternate way of providing a temporary logo.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

I have done a similar job to this, it was on a route map for an airport, where they wanted the destinations & tour operators to be able to be changed without having to reprint the whole sign (it was 7.3m x3.6m so would have been costly to keep replacing, especially at the rate the tour operators were dropping last year) 😮 .

I had the foamex boards UV printed & then matt laminated so the print was protected. Then I had the destinations & tour operator logos printed on removable vinyl & popped them up.

That was in April last year, I’ve just recently been back & changed a couple over, no problem, have kept the removed ones on a spare piece of corri & will be able to reuse them if required in future.

Have also just made a much smaller version & have used laminated static cling vinyl which is even easier to remove & re use, but they will only stick to a gloss surface so the matt laminate was substituted for gloss. Also had to put a thin protective sheet of lexan over this one as it was at ground level & needed to prevent idle hands from re routing all the flights 😕

Some people did suggest using a 1yr grade vinyl as the adhesive is not that aggressive & would probably be easy enough to remove without damage to the surface, but I didn’t want to chance it & end up having to replace the whole sign free of charge if it went wrong.

    Hope that helps

    Myles
