I have a client that wanted the same, he had steel panels bonded to the aluminium & then painted body colour. Bit extreme for the benefit of having removable signage but worked fine.

I had an Antalis rep call in the other day showing me a removable vinyl. Looked like a low tack version of normal vinyl but thicker, trouble is it’s never been tested for outdoor use.

Vinyl is temporary, not permanent. It can always be removed, but not reused.
Using a short term adhesive is fine, but does the same job, just easier to remove, still not reused and you will have to buy in a full roll to offer the customer a couple of panels. (some suppliers will do part rolls, but still)
if they want magnetic panels for very short term and reusable. they must have a metal area to bond to.
if the roof was metal… they could have a taxi style sign running the length rather than width.you have offered Velcro and it would work when stopped, but it would probably be whipped off in the wind when travelling. But the customer has declined this anyway.
So what does he want?
You have offered the obvious solutions and they do not suit. if you can come up with a bespoke solution he should be willing to pay properly for your efforts. End of the day we are talking about the value of graphics the size of a couple of magnetic door panels on doors.I am not in anyway saying we should not try and find a solution to customer problems, we should, but we also need to be realistic on the time given to them for the potential immediate or long term reward.
This type of thing is common, the next question is "how much?" followed by…. "your kidding!"

At least he had the good sense to realise that magnets won’t stick to Aluminium. It’s not the first time I’ve been asked to supply magnetic signs only to later discover they were destined for a vehicle with aluminium panels
Having said all that, have you considered buying some shower mats and lettering them? The suction pads underneath will allow them to stick to any non porous surface. Something like this maybe? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Non-slip-Envir … B011QU9WEC

Sorry, forgot to mention in the above that this antalis stuff is re-usable, no distortion or stretching when removing it and can be re-applied, printable as well.

Seriously Phill, if I supplied my clients with what you have just suggested I would be laughed out of the county [emoji15]

So what else would you suggest for an elderly client that was afraid to take a bath or shower Ian ?
-
I’d suggest they retired and let the sign game be taken over by someone with a bit of sense [emoji50]

But you can get them in a choice of colours – Pink or Blue, would that help :awkward:

what about static cling material? could always try that?

Probably too late for this reply to help much but I have always used Avery 3002 with one of the 3000 range of laminates. If it is really short term (ie an event) then don’t bother laminating. We did a rally and every vehicle was stripped in less than 5 mins. NO PAINT DAMAGE. Which is the most important thing. We have also had 3002 on a vehicle for over 3 years, (bonnet of my wifes car) and still had a clean removal. With our amount of UV in Western Australia it is a VERY accelerated decay over the UK. I had a car sticker sent to me from a club and it lasted 5 months! It turned orange and literally fell to pieces. I sometimes still the same club sticker in posts online…. and it is now 20 years since that club existed! We also use this product for Real Estate Hire boards (1200 x 1800). We keep over sticking them and when about 5 deep remove the lot.
