  • Registration Mark Issue… When printing onto clear

Posted by Adam. on March 8, 2012 at 4:11 pm

I’ve just run off some reverse printed graphics with registration marks on my CJV30… then backed in white vinyl to be fitted internally when facing out. Problem is the registration marks aren’t being detected as, from what I can gather, they aren’t printed onto a pure white background. I’ve used this method before and had no problems. Not today though

    Any suggestions anyone?

    Cheers

I’ve been doing the same today, the paper backing is off-white, and apart from making sure I didnt cover the reg marks when putting the white on, it’s all cut as normal. Sorry, no help here.

    Hi

On our Graphtec plotter the sensor sometimes mistakes the slight colour difference/contrast between the white vinyl backing and the off white of the backing paper showing through the clear as a registration mark. We make sure that we cut an inch of white away from the registration mark all around and then it always works fine. Could that be your issue?

    Cheers

Could be a light issue. Try holding a lead light near the optical eye when it is trying to read the reg mark, i find all my problems reading reg marks is down to light or not enough of.

the latex printers have a media feed sense system, it doesn’t always like clear vinyls

I would also do this way.

Just recalibrate the plotter using the material you’ve just printed on.

Got it now…… Just tried cut1 instead of cut3. I was tempted to print new reg marks and stick them on, maybe botched but aslong as it gets the job done ey

    I know in future now

Are you using Finecut? If so, you can set an option in there to print a red box around the register mark so it recognises it on the clear media.
