    see this becky.
unless ur doing 10 hour production, then going against original inks is just not profitable.

In comparison to a colorcamm they seem to last forever Nik.

I’ve had my machine for just a few weeks and I am still on the original set of cartridges despite running off loads of experiements and customer prints so far.
I reckon £6 per square metre running cost is not far off the mark but would be interested myself to hear what others clain to be true running costs 😀

    Phill

Is that £6 per square just for the ink, or does that include vinyl at 610 wide.

    Just being nosey

That includes vinyl Iain – but they’re not my figures, but what I’ve been told 😀

Here in the US Im running a Versacamm printing on Oracal 3651 with bulk ink for about $3.76US a sq meter. Even using OEM inks I would be around $5.38US a sq meter.

The combined ink usage is between 15-20 ml per sq meter with almost full dark coverage – that applys to just about all inikjet printers.
The resolution you print at has no direct correlation in terms of ink usage – IE printing at 1440 dpi is nowhere near 4x ink usage than at 360 and in fact lower resolutions can use MORE inks on occasion , on average the drop in ink useage between the highest and lowest res is less than 20% , if that.
The mix of inks used will depend on your rip , we use 3 yellow , 2 magenta , 2 cyan , 1 black and about 1/3rd lm, lc in those ratios.
Prices here are about 30 quid a cart which translates to about 150 a litre , thus ink costs are around 3 quid per sq meter.
Using overprinting etc will radically raise the ink usage.

Using your math Rodney Im 14.5 cents per ml of ink so at 15-20ml per sq meter Im looking at $2.17-$2.90 cents per sq meter in ink costs. Of course less or lighter coverage would be cheaper.

BTW, Im using the Triangle Eco-Sol Bulk inks sold here in the US… I believe they are availble in other countries, but Im hearing the cost is more than the $145 per liter it sells for here.

I use refillable in cartridges and never had a problem i think it depends on how much you print if its used often i cannot see a problem…certainly saves me a few bob (been using them for over a year now)

Phill price was the figure I have in my mind but for the resolution 540×360 6 pass is up to £6 per sqmtr, but thats for the ink only.

It top resolutions (720×720) we are looking at up to £9 per sqmtr.

All down to the RIP, artworrk as Rodney says.

Rodney, is £30 per cart original ink for your printer? that is cheap if so.

This is for JV3 (seems to be the same as the Cadet)

Yeh , its actually cheaper here , R290 per 220ml for eco-sol and R350 for Max , the exchange rate is R11.50 per GBP
Roland dropped prices radically to stop users changing to aftermarket and to put a stop to the conversion guys or to stop existing users changing to bulk full solvent systems.

    Becky,
A rep from m/mark said that b&p sell the refillable carts. But they dont shout it from the roof tops as theyre not making so much on them. I havent tried them in my cadet yet, but ive been told that unless you’re pumping mtrs and mtrs of print out then they are liable to go off as they’re solvent based inks. I had to change the pump today!!!!! I was getting massive drop-outs on the black. Ran cleaning cycles medium and powerfull, but had the same result even after a full clean with solvent and pads. I pulled some ink through with the syringe and heard an air leak in the pump tubes. Got one sent and fitted it . I’m happy to say it only took about 10mins. It took longer to separate those stupid little joiners in the tubes. Oh well just thought i would share this info incase it helps someone else with same same problem. Have you tried wrapping with the cadet yet becky/phill??
