    Hi Guys,

    We’ve had a few enquiries regarding full vehicle wraps.

    Neither of has been trained, or to be honest has the premises to do this as of yet.

    Almost all enquiries have asked if i could recommend anyone. Which at the moment I can’t.

    So I’m just after a few opinions really. If we were to find someone near to us, what are everyones thoughts on us getting a small referall fee.

    Obviously with smaller jobs that we couldn’t do we would just pass them on, but as these large wraps can bring in quite a lot of money…..!

    Anyway let me know what you think.

    Do I get a fee for answering your question 😉

    Maybe you could work out a system where they pass certain jobs your way in return? ie recommend you for certain types of work that maybe they don’t cover

    I do this with a local screenprinting company, they sent small one off jobs to me and I send larger screenprinting jobs to them.

    perhaps the best way is to have an agreement with a local place, get all the artwork designed etc, send it to them, then just ask for a supply and fit price, trade rates of course, then simply give the quote to the customer as your own, the customer can leave the van with you and the other co can shoot over and wrap it, or you take it to them (make sure you’re insured !)

    think that’s how i’d work around ti anyways.

    We wrap for sign companies & we have no idea what they choose to charge the end customer.
    I personally would be surprised and disapointed to find that they did not put a mark up on our work.

    Where I used to work did full wrap’s, a vehicle graphic’s company in Clydebank, may be a bit of a distance from you though, however they do have fitters throughout the UK, they are very very good at wrapping.

    It does make sense to get a referal fee, especially if it’s a frequent thing you get asked, test the water with whatever company you contact.

    I think if your find a printing/ fitting company you can trust to replicate art work and fit well. quote it as your job and just put a small amount for phone calls setting the job up etc. then the customer just thinks it is you doing the work, after all they came to you so they trust you , a bit like Phil Haling said they do trade for the sign firms.

    This is the thought process you should be using.
    I dont buy my vinyl from the maufacturer, I dont buy my cars from Ford or Nissan The sausages I buy from Marks and Spencer come from Porkinsons So why do you need to take on the whole job?

    The main thing is to find a trustworthy trade supplier, believe it or not, there are lots about. Then you can give the customer what they want.
    As long as your supplier stands by there product, you shouldn’t have a problem, and at the same time expect a reasonable mark up.

    I have this with all sorts of jobs.

    It is no different from getting someone to supply a print for you. You buy the print in and mark it up.

    I also employ other sign shops to do things I can’t.

    I get a quote from them to supply the service at a trade rate, I mark it up, then sell them the service to my client.

    I don’t pay referal fees to other shops, and I don’t ask for one either. It is too much ‘paperwork’ from my point of view.

    I think every sub contractor would expect a markup on their work.

    Just make sure they are trustworthy, as I have had sub contractors do the first job, and then approach my clients with a cheaper price for ongoing work.
