    Neil,

i can sing it but don’t ask me to write the words down (anything other than phonetically anyways!) lol.

i had the chance of some tickets three weeks ago, 4 tickets, face value (about £50ea), got pm’d the number of the seller who’s visiting family had cancelled their UK trip, brilliant, almost fell over myself with excitement and the thought of my kids faces when i told them…. phone goes…. 30mins later and all is good, a £400 job secured, phone the guy with the tickets…. sorry boyo he says, you missed em by ten minutes ,

wish i’d let that call go to answerphone now 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 all other tickets i’d been offered were silly money.

I suggested to the kids we all watch it at our local rugby club, none of them wanted to so i arrange a litte get together tonight, few mates, beers, shandy for the kids and some nibbles… last night the boys tell me they’re going to the club after all, can’t bloody win!!

anyways, I’m not sure we have the team to beat England, I just don’t know to be honest but, I wold love to see it happen, and if we can do it as dramatically as in the Scotland game last year, then even better!! (tho not for the blood pressure!)

well i’m looking forward to tomorrow, a bit of fly fishing in the morning, hopefully watch our 1st team continue their unbeaten run against 2nd in the league and then watch Wales do the business in Scotland, i hope!

    i reckon…

France will take a close win over Ireland (though i’d rather not see that!)

Italy will either draw or beat England,

Wales and Scotland… gonna be a tight one i think, i’m not sure who’ll do it on the night.

Wales soooo needed that win, as did the supporters, I don’t know what Gatland has done with them this past week but they were playing a whole different level today, tackling great, discipline pretty much unquestionable and field positioning spot on. Was great to see Hook in the thick of it and byrnes at the rear, both where they should be and it showed.

as for the yellows, the first i thought was a bit harsh, i don’t think he intended to kick the ball away, just something that happened as he jumped over the ruck, Byrnes was very silly soon as the replay showed the high boot I said to Taffy (my irish friend) that he’ll be carded if he doesn’t calm down, then the high tackle followed, he needed that to cool down i think.

to hold off scotland with only 13 men was fantastic, it could have so been scotlands game if they’d taken control at that point.

    Hard luck Scotland 😉

I see England just scraped a win again too 😕

I hope he is cited for that, its crept into the game a lot and going into a tackle with your foot that high is lethal and only has one intention. The sooner it is stamped(no pun intended! 😀 ) out the better imo

Actually guys, Southwood should have been yellow carded for that tackle on Byrne while he was in the air even though Southwood came off worse. He should have backed off as Byrne did fall to the ground dangerously.
As for Byrnes high tackle, that was a definite yellow, he could and should have gone lower.

Well from what I saw Ireland controlled the whole game and scored nearly all the points, they only have themselves to blame really. They had the beating of the French but gave away far to much with silly penalties because of their discipline.
I still wouldn’t write them off as far as the whole competition goes, think it is still very open and cant see any team going undefeated through out.

    Day 3
Wales need to be careful against the Italians…but I think they will win after a scare.
England to triumph after a titanic struggle….(I’m in good ‘love thy neighbour’ mood today…or maybe I want the thrill of a Grand Slam deny in Lansdowne Road!!! 😀 )

Ireland to overcome Scotland damarra! 😀

Harry after your last round of predictions if your looking for Ireland to deny England then maybe you should have predicted a French win today :lol1:
I still can’t see any side going undefeated but obviously the game today between France and England will be a big factor in that.

I personally wouldn’t put money on any of the games as i think any of them can go either way the way the teams are playing.

really enjoyed this weekends rugby, all the teams seemed to come out with a more determined attitude, the games were much more physical, faster and certainly more entertaining as far as spectating went.

was a good weekend for me… Wales and England both won… so that’s my nationality conscience at ease!!

even better is that my clubs 1st team http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/uckfieldrfc/ have won their league with 4 games left to play… up into London 3 next season and i’m told all of the players who have been offered cash to move to bigger clubs have turned down the offers…. they’re also into the higher stages of the jnr vase cup, the country yokals are doing good! the 2nd team and 3rd team also look set to win their respective leagues too!

anyways, back to the nations… I reckon Ireland were lucky to walk away with the win today, was very close and Scotland were very close to taking the win on a few occasions. well done to em though.

My Welsh side is hoping Ireland beat England next week. If wales win we can, i think, tie for 1st place points but unless we have an enormous victory our points difference won’t be anywhere near good enough for first!

With 3 teams on 4 points after this weekends games it’s still wide open. Wales v Ireland should be a cracking game, both teams are more than capable of playing good rugby and with both teams needing to win to keep their title chances alive hopefully it will be one of the highlights of the tournament.

Think both teams are capable of beating England, Last time England won the grand slam it was inevitable, the English team at the time was way ahead of the other Countries but I don’t think thats true today.

Scotland may have lost all three games but they should have beat the French and should have done better against Wales. Didn’t see yesterdays game so can’t comment on that but don’t forget they have a History of upsetting the English and as they are bound to be real underdogs for the next game that will give them any extra incentive they need against the old enemy.
Same goes for Ireland, everyone loves to beat the English and add to that the fact that if things go their way against Wales next round they may well be in a position to lift the title themselves.

    (d) For a quick throw-in, the player must use the ball that went into touch. A quick throw-in is not permitted if another person has touched the ball apart from the player throwing it in and an opponent who carried it into touch.

If it was the other way around I would be unhappy too Harry, as it is I’m not too bothered! I’ve watched Wales lose by points that were given via unfair penalties for fouls which -under later scrutiny- were wrongly awarded.

Been there and lost that way many time Hugh…part and parcel of sport. Doesn’t make it right though.
They are trying to fudge it already by saying the line out was formed, Kaplan’s question to the touch judge (‘Was it the same ball?’) shows that up as being nonsense, though.
Ireland where in control imo, defending adequately and this shocking decision turned the game. The only way Wales could score a try against us was by cheating, for once it would be great to hear a manager or referee apologise.
    Tainted victory imo 🙁

A win off of points that came from a wrong decision will sting no matter what rule was broken. I doubt very much that anyone deliberately cheated. No one would want to be pulled up for cheating, deliberate or not.

I agree Harry, rugby isn’t soccer.

however, where do you stop with after match back tracking? I missed most of the game, including the try in question but, what i did see towards the end, included two high tackles that went unpunished within the space of 5 minutes, both by Ireland on welsh players. one of those high tackles was on Shane Williams while Ireland had the advantage, the whistle was blown and ireland got their advantage which then put the lineout on our 22, had Ireland gone on to score from that, would you have condemned that?

while Phillips now realises they scored via an illegal move, I doubt he gave it any thought when he ran for the line, 2nd nature would have taken over, not a rundown of the rule book when he was running.

game is done, bad choices and illegal acts take place in near every match, sometimes they go unpunished and result in points being scored against the victims. it happens and as unfair as it may seem, it’s now too late to be discussing it.

against England Wales were penalised wrongly twice, from those two penalties 6 points were scored, under replays, both of those decisions were wrong, those points were enough difference to give England the win. they may go on to win the cup as a result of that win.

    it happens 😥

You call a spade a spade Hugh….immediately after the game they (the IRFU) spun the story that it wasn’t a quick lineout that the lineout had formed, which was bull when you listen to Kaplan’s conversation with the touch judge.

now Harry, you know as well as I that they won’t replay a game based on one decision, it sucks but I really don’t see what can be done about it now. the ref’s / judges should have intervened at the time.

I would need to see the replay to see how they played it, as for the IRFU, haven’t seen what they’ve said yet. Like i say, while the players involved realised after the act that they’d done wrong, there’s nothing they can do now and i’m sure they would not have intentionally broken the rules. in the heat of battle you occasionally act on instinct, not rules, its down to the ref to apply the rules when that happens.

i’m sorry Ireland are gutted about it but it’s done, i bet you’re no more gutted now than i was and England gaining points over Wales through wrongly awarded penalties against us.

I can take penalty decisions that go against you, or infringements the ref doesn’t see. That is the cut and thrust of sport. This is different though and represents the changes taking place in what was once an honourable game.
I don’t want the game replayed. The game is over what’s done is done, but the IRFU still have a job to do to stop this happening again….spinning it and protecting image won’t do that.
As Kidney said after, a lot of people are paid by the IRFU to stop this kind of thing; instead the IRFU have gone into protective spin and have not censored anybody over missing 4 infringements
    1. 3rd party touched the ball, immediately invoking Rule 9d above.
    2. He Used the Wrong Ball.
    3. Wrong Place to take the lineout.
    4. Thrower was on the field of play when he threw the ball.

Kaplan will get rewarded with the World Cup final for not criticising his touch judge or the IRFU.
    🙄 🙄

Harry the team came out and played well for the first five minutes but then let Wales back into the game, if they had carried on the way they started no one would be talking about one incident in the game that led to a try which shouldn’t have been given. Neither side played the sort of rugby they are capable of playing and although you say that Ireland would have gone on to win if the try hadn’t been given I am not so sure. It seemed to be one of those games where neither side wanted the ball and I felt it could have gone either way.

Yer, I know I’m sitting on that fence again but I honestly don’t think there have been many good games played at all, lots of mistakes made by all the teams playing and to many points given away through bad discipline. Having said that I would have loved to have been in Rome last night for the celebrations :lol1: :lol1:

although you say that Ireland would have gone on to win if the try hadn’t been given I am not so sure.

The illegal try was worth 7 points…Wales won by 6! 😀
It was a game changer Martin, not saying they would have won…but Wales wouldn’t have scored a legitimate try if they where still there. 😀

Roll on next week…..beware the Saxons, Ireland is angry! 😀

    I don’t see the difference Harry….

Ireland lose by 6 points after 7 points were "gifted" to Wales wrongly.
Wales lose by 7 points after two penalties were wrongly given against them and at least one serious high tackle went unpunished, effectively gifting 9 points!

it’s a tough draw but no difference in how the fans feel at losing in such a way.

well knock me over with a feather (and thats no mean feat if you saw my belly ) I tink we were meant to roll over and give up , but at least we put up a good fight …hell at one point i thought we might just do it . Although not the most exciting game ive ever watched …entertaining , and a lot more credible than the last few matches

Congrats to Scotland today, they played a great game.

And, as a consolation to Harry I’ll guarantee that every Welsh fan will be supporting Ireland next Saturday.

Hugh, penalties and on pitch matters, the ref deals with, he makes the decisions.
There will always be a 50/50 element to that and we all accept that in the main, the ref gets it right.
The player was falling and practically at the Irish guys knees when he tackled him, which is not normally seen as a dangerous tackle. The Citing procedure is there to deal with dangerous tackles anyway and nobody has been cited for infringements yesterday.
In this instance the ball had gone dead, the Irish team expected that the rules would be followed, allowing them to organise for the lineout in the normal way. The touch judge then allowed a player or players to ‘cheat’. You can dress it up any way you want to but the result was that a team who had successfully defended their try line had a match winning try scored against them, with the illegal aid of the officials. That just makes a mockery of any concept of sportsmanship.

It’s ironic that the exact same situation arose today but the officials dealt with it and called it what it was…..illegal. What a difference a day makes
    🙁

    May the best teams win.

And if one team in particular does, can we not have the World Cup rammed down our throats each and every day for the next 6 months!!!

Not preemptive sour grapes by any means 😀

Bergamasco is up to his un-winning ways again!!

Well done Scotland, thought the wooden spoon was on it’s way especially after the first half but they managed to turn it round in the second half and ended with a good win.

Brian, that offer of help I made to you earlier, forget it 😥

Congratulations to Ireland, worthy winners today and although I hate to be right I did say that no team would go unbeaten, this England team aren’t that good as today’s game proved.

Best of luck to Wales against the French, love to see Wales win but not by to many points :lol1: :lol1:

LOL……Wales didn’t play well at all.

France were SO aggressive at the breakdown they blew us away.

We gifted them some tries tho and I guess the Hook sin binning was maybe karma for the wrong ball incident against Ireland.

    Well done England 🙄

Well done England, not vintage 6 nations…but interesting from a World Cup point of view. From ours its very encouraging to see the team finally gel and rout the opposition, I think this has been the goal since winning the Grand Slam. But like all the other northern hemisphere teams, consistency will be the key if the world cup is coming back to these parishes! 😀

Posting this, not to gloat, but because I think it is what makes rugby such a fair and ultimately good game. You would wait a long time to see the same happen in soccer!

that’s good to see Harry. I still think it was a heat of the moment mistake rather than a deliberate attempt to cheat though! either way, it made no difference to the outcome in the end.

I loved the Ireland game, there were a small crowd of Irish supporters in the club and it was a top evening, I have to admit that despite being 1/2 English, My Welsh half was right behind the Irish in that game… for obvious reasons!

well done England too…. scraping the over-all win like that 😉

I missed some of the Wales game, unfortunately, doesn’t sound like i missed much though. a real shame.

still, it’s been a good few weeks rugby for me, my club’s 1st XV have won their league -Sussex1, with 4games to go (unbeaten all season) and are moving into London 3. On saturday they took apart the top team in the surrey 1 division to go through to the last 32 (i think) in the country in the junior vase cup, four more rounds to get to the final at Twickers! Also looks like our 2nd and 3rd XV are going to win their respective leagues too. even the vets won both their 40 min back to back games against touring side Maidstone, and Hastings on before watching Scotland getting a well deserved win against Italy, and so on!

whats the problem with that? 02, Admiral / under armour, the Scots, The Italians and the French would have all had similar marketing video’s done in the run up to a potential grandslam win!

looks like a bunch of publicity / marketing shots thrown together ‘just in case’, common practice!
