    Hi folks
Well as many know already I’ve been away on business the past 6 days.
So I am now playing catch up on the boards, PM’s emails etc
I have lots to do and lots of new things happening, so I thought ide keep you all up to date on what’s been going on behind the scenes. Before I get stuck in again.

There will be 2 completely new sections opening shortly.
One will be “file swapping” & the other “sign extra”
Sign extra is basically going to be an on-line sign magazine covering all of the industry news, new products on the go, the gossip, but more importantly “real” sign news. Write ups about basically you guys… the “sign makers”. All those featured in sign extra will also appear under “the boards” section of the glossy sign world magazine. One of the industries longest running trade magazines.
So if you have any news, announcements or recently completed a signing project let me know, and we will feature it in sign extra & sign world magazine. admin@uksignboards.com

File swapping will be similar to what it is today but will have added features we think will benefit all. Bit too long winded to go into but will be with us very soon.

We will begin loading a long list of Video Demos & Product tests that’s been under way the last couple of months. One being the CraftROBO vinyl cutter from Graphtec. This product test in particular will also launch a brand new contest to WIN your very own CraftROBO Vinyl Cutter exclusive to UKSB registered users. sooooo, if anyone has a good idea on how this machine could be won, I am all ears. Ide like to keep it easy to enter for all though.

Due to my absence I haven’t had time to properly welcome Nicola McIntosh of
RGS Signs & Screen-printing on board as one of our new site moderators.
As many will know nik (aka) niknaxpc is a familiar face on the boards, she also has 20 years experience in our trade & makes a great addition to the team. We are considering maybe another 1 or 2 moderators, but will keep you posted on that.

As many will know now, Dewi has now become staff at sign world magazine. Dewi will have his very own page in the magazine covering anything and everything a day to day sign shop will encounter. Should be a good feature and I wish him well, I’m sure if anyone can pull it off dewi can! With this bit of good news, comes a bit not so. Because of dewi’s new role, now being part of an industry magazine team I had to ask dewi to step down as one of our moderators of the site. So for anyone thinking he may be ignoring them, he is definitely NOT. He just can no longer PM or remain a mod which is unfortunately all part of UKSG & board rules and not a decsision taken lightly. Other than that and moderating status, nothing has been changed. I am sure you will all agree in wishing Dewi the best of luck in his new position.

While on the subject of moderators, I would also like to mention that we have now made moderators & myself invisible. I will try and explain why we have done this. A couple of months back we saw a growing trend in mods being given the “run-around” so to speak. If someone makes a post and it is edited, but there is only one moderator on the site. You have a good chance in guessing it was them who edited it. In turn you may feel a bit annoyed at this person. Till now some wait for opportunity to arise again and continually post in wrong forums, bypass filters and more. Anything really to have them work a bit harder, ultimately spoiling their nights enjoyment of the site. Now that all mods are invisible, those who wish to can no longer play the cat and mouse game.

Well, I hope I haven’t bored you all to tears, like I said, just keeping you all updated. Watch out for the new features shortly to be announced on the home page!

Thanks Rob, for keeping these boards moving forward.

Also, I wish, as I am sure everyone here would, Dewi every success in the future with his role with the sign mag. I am sure his ‘help’ will still be forthcoming.

    Cheers
    Shane
