Posting on another site just now reminded me of a have-to-share moment I had with my three and a half year old daughter on Monday night….

I was working on my Land Rover ( no surprises there…) trying to track down an intermittent electrical fault (no surprises, again!!) when I muttered words to the effect that "I’m going to fill you with petrol and drop a lit match down the tank"

Carla, who was watching me, turned around, and with a voice threatening to break, said: "I’m going to tell Jesus!" as she walked out of the garage!!
I have to say, she really loves that car (and the things we do with it) so it must have been a big deal to her. So big that telling Mom wont do!

I’ve been warned! No funny stuff, or I’ll be reported!

PS: I wonder if she could ask for assistance with the electrical fault while she is at it…..

Matt, the usual kind. Kind of like a supermodel……

Very high maintenance, good for limited pleasure, but, boy-oh-boy, will she put a smile on your face !!

Ive got a 110 wagon with the 3.5 V8 engine. Not as powerful as a Land Cruiser, not economical like a CRV, not gay like a RAV4 !!

I’m thinking of selling her. The problem is that I like to explore really wild places, taking me FAR away from help and civilisation. The Landy, for all its greatness, is just not reliable enough. Especially mine, which is 25 odd years old, neglected, abused, loved and cared for !!

    Nice Gert…

I had a lightweight, then RR Vogue, then Freelander (AARRGH!) now P38.

Great vehicles when they work but a labour of love when they don’t!

    Matty,

There is an P38 staring me in the eye every morning I drive to work. The proverbial "old ladie’s car" with full maintenance record and in superb condition.

    Its a 4.0 SE….

Problem is, it is too good for what I want to do. I will be too scared to use it proper, since the first scratch I put on it will be the only scratch on it…..

I would love to own a Forward control, rigged out as overlander vehicle, with the 3.2 Iveco diesel engine. Hmmmm…..

IMHO Land Rover dropped the ball big time with the Freelander. We call them "Gaylanders"!. You would expect at least a low range tranfer case on a product made by the most legendary 4×4 manufacturer in the world. I bet the day you sold yours was a happy day!

    I couldn’t give the gaylander away! I had the 2.5 v6 for 11 months.

22 times in the garage, 4 head gaskets, water pump, radiator and replayed all cylinders and cases.

Eventually got rid of for 3k. (payed 9k for it!!)

Good riddance to a bad car.

Agree! Great what kids can come out with….I remember breaking the news to my eldest (he was 7 & he is very talented at drawing) that my uncle had died….I was trying to be as gentle as I could but after a while he just sighed and said…..

‘does this mean I have to make another card?’ 😀

Nah, Cheryl, I couldnt do that.

I’m afraid of hearing an answer like "You should have bought a Land Cruiser" or "Land Rovers are spawn of the Devil!!"

Me, I’m NOT willing to rock the boat! So what if the hooter does not work when the headlights are on?
