  • questions about prep on vehicle decals

Posted by Josh Steenbergen on July 6, 2006 at 3:07 pm

I was wondering if anybody can help me or guide me to the right path on Prepping the vehicle before I mount decals on vehicle. I am a newcomer to the industry and in need help if possible.

what should I use to clean vehicle with?

I saw in a wrap video that I had to put some kind of mineral water cleaning agent on it after washing it? Is that try for decals too?

If I have to remove previous decals, any suggestions on how to take them off?

and anymore suggestion that people want to add will help.

    Thanks,
    Josh Steenbergen

    Removal:
Hair dryer, L’il Chizler, Rapid Remover.
    Cleaning prior to application:
    Rapid Prep, cheap paper towels.
Application: Dry or Rapid Tac (or RT2 for cold weather apps)
    and a 3M Gold squeegee.
Or a felt one if you can find it for certain circumstances.

heat gun to remove old decals
tar and glue remover to remove any trace of old glue and this also removes t
    road tar spots

rapid prep sprayed on and wiped with paper towels
to apply i now only use a felt applicator
apply mostly dry (after many wet applications)
and some times rapid tack 2

i must say i did use meths and soapy water but if you try rapid prep i bet you never go back
