  • Question for Stevo or Jill!

Posted by Jayne Marsh on January 2, 2006 at 7:17 pm

I have a question for Stevo or Jill or anyone else for that matter. I have been admiring the fonts that both Stevo and Jill use on their designs and was wondering that if I was to buy a couple of standard fonts, i.e. script, a plain one and a fancy one which fonts would be the best to go for and where would be the best online place to buy them from. I am looking to redesign my logo and want to go for the traditional signwriters style of things. I hope that Im making sense :lol1:
    Thanks for any suggestions 😀

    Hi Jayne!
Well there are quite a few sign font sites out there.
Here’s a few that Jill and I both use.

http://www.letterheadfonts.com Lots of antique style fonts here. There’s a few workhorse typestyles. Arthur Vanson’s collections are quite versatile.

http://www.signdna.com Lots of nice scripts and prismatic fonts here. The Mike Stevens collection is great!

http://www.thefontry.com Some scripts, Atkinson fonts, and lots of racing style ones too.

Have a browse and pick ones that you think will work the best for you. The antique style fonts are really nice but would you use them everyday? Personally, when doing alot of just commercial style work I like Arthur Vanson’s work. The Mike Steven’s fonts are great too and can add some punch to what otherwise would be just a boring layout. Lots and lots to choose from!
    Have fun!

    What Stevo said!
The Fontry has some cool retro fonts designed by Alf Becker.
The A&S fonts are so versatile and punchy,
    really sign-painterly.
You can never go wrong with the Mike Stevens alphabets from Sign DNA, also the Bob Behounek and Crazy Jack ones.
Letterhead Fonts really are good too, with my faves being those from Arthur Vanson.
    You won’t be sorry, Jayne!
    Love….Jill

    I’ll second that.

I am looking at buying a few fonts from Letterheads too, but I’ll checkout the other sites now before I spend any dosh.

So many fonts, so much procrastination,….. not enough credit on my card 🙁

Smoothie 😎 First time I’ve been called that! 😳

I usually hear ‘old fella’, ‘old man’, ‘silly old man’….. not that the wife has called me that for a day or two I must confess.
