  • Question for GX24 owners

We were about to buy the GX24 yesterday when an alternative suggestion was made for the Signpal Jaguar. We really have our heart (and head) set on the Roland but were told the Signpal one can do multiple copy registration marks.

We know the GX24 has the optical eye (which is why we were about to buy it yesterday) but can it also do the multiple copy registration marks?

For example, if I printed a sheet of stickers with registration marks around each sticker can the GX24 read each separate set of registration marks or will it get really confused?

We already have a Versacamm but can’t afford a second one, and as we already have a printer available, we just need to add the ability to cut – hence the GX24 looking like the perfect solution.

Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully answer our question!

We have the GX24 – Love it , and the versacamm , Only use the GX24 for vinyl cutting but have done A4 stuff with the optical eye but since we got the versacamm there was no need to use it for that. its 4 years old and is as good as the day it arrived with no issues , used daily , great machine.

No the gx-24 does not have multi copy registration marks.
I know mimaki, graphtec, and signpal cutters with the AAS2 regmark system do have them.

Why would you need seperate registration marks?

Its really only good for decals.
You have say a 3inch by 3 inch decal and you need say 5000 of them
You make an array 5 high by 100 along the length
Thats 300plus inches or 25 feet.
With regmarks around each , tracking can only be off over 3 inches instead of 25 feet.

Not only that, you only send the cut data for 1 decal, the cutter reuses the cut data for all the other decals.
    Mimaki has a great twist.
You can have 4 regmarks around the first.
You can then specify 4/3/2 or 1 regmark around the rest.
Having 4 around each really adds to the time it takes to cut the job.
