    Hi One and All

I have a couple of questions one is on software the other is scanner related. Any help in clearing my mind would be much appreciated.

If I give a little background.

At the moment I’m just running a Roland CX24. But looking at going into digital printing, we would have already had the versacamm until Mike’s original post which put me on a back foot, so I’m still waiting on the final verdict of that one.

The first question is on software.

What would you recommend, Signlab or Flexi given the fact that we will be going down the digital route, (we will not be going down this road with Gerber) most of the work in the initial period will be vehicle and shop signage.

    Let the battle commence.

The other question is with regards to scanner set-up, there has been a lot of talk of late regarding setting scanner and monitors up.

I have an all in one, printer, copier and scanner (Lexmark X73) now for the life of me I just can’t find any way to adjust setting in terms of colour. Can anyone enlighten me to how this is done.

If you are going digital then you must go for adobe photoshop, the production software (Signlab or Flexi) is a minor consideration as long as it can handle bitmap files.

Scanners these days are pretty much the same, you don’t need to scan anything over 600 / 720 dpi as your production machine probably won’t be able to print at higher resolutions. My current scanner costs about £60 and does far more than I ever need it to do.

hope this clears up some of your points
